Vice-prime minister Sok An, who is also the minister in charge of the Council of Ministers, indicated that Japan is the top country in terms of providing grant aid to Cambodia, but when it comes to business, Japanese investment amounts only 0.2% of the total investments in Cambodia. Last week, Sok An raised this issue in front of a delegation of 40 Japanese investors visiting Cambodia, who came to seek the understanding on the investment climate in Cambodia. Sok An said the Royal Government of Cambodia need foreign investment funds to develop agriculture, tourism, factories, business, oil and gas, and mining. This is the second visit performed by a major group of Japanese investors to Cambodia, following the visit performed by Hun Sen to Japan and the signing of agreements to protect Japanese business interest on 14 June 2007.

i can't understand why japan is so afraid to make investment in cambodia. maybe japan don't want cambodia to compete with other asean countries and want to keep cambodia dependent on foreign aid forever? please invest more in cambodia. this include the good, old USofA as well.
