The Paris-based journalism watchdog, Reporters Without Borders, has expressed concern about Cambodian press independence in the lead-up to national elections in July.
The group says it is concerned that three journalists have reportedly received death threats for covering logging issues.
It also says it believes one newspaper has been temporarily closed after reprinting part of a report on the issue by an anti-corruption non-government organisation called Global Witness.
Cambodia's minister of information, Khieu Kanharith, says he defends the right to a free press and has strenuously denied allegations that the media is muzzled.
