Khieu Kanharith, government spokesman, declared that the Preah Vihear Temple issue will not be on the agenda of the discussion between Hun Sen and Samak Sundaravej, the Thai prime minister. The declaration was made after the Bangkok Post newspaper reported at the beginning of this week that Samak, who will be visiting Cambodia on Monday, asked the Thai army to brief him about the Preah Vihear Temple in preparation for a discussion on this issue with Hun Sen. Khieu Kanharith told the Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper by phone, on Thursday, that Preah Vihear Temple is not on the agenda of the meeting between Hun Sen and Samak Sundaravej. He said that Samak’s visit to Cambodia was not to discuss the PreahVihear Temple, but that it is only a visit to strengthen the solidarity between neighboring countries.

Preah Vihear will top the agenda of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's official visit to Cambodia, starting Monday. A military source said the prime minister would talk to his Cambodian counterpart about jointly proposing the Preah Vihear Khmer temple ruins, called Khao Phra Viharn in Thai, as a World Heritage site since the two countries have yet to settle the border demarcation in that area which is located in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket.
Moreover, the Thai side believes the area that covers about 7.2 sq km should not be included in the area to be designated a World Heritage site.
Last year, Cambodia tried to register the site with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) alone. But the UN agency delayed its decision, urging the two countries to resolve the issue together.
''Due to the unsettled border, Cambodia cannot register the ruins alone. If Cambodia wants to apply for World Heritage status, the proposal should be jointly submitted with Thailand because the area is supervised by two countries.
''If Cambodia pushes on with its idea, it should not include the 7.2 sq km disputed area because it means Thailand might lose its sovereignty over the area in question,'' the source said.
Mr Samak's trip will follow a two-day official visit to Laos which begins today.
A meeting of the World Heritage committee will be convened from July 4 to 12 in Canada.
I KNOW THE CPP DOES NOT WANT THE PREAH VIHEAR'S ISSUE TO BE ON THE AGENDA OF THE DISCUSSION BETWEEN HUN SEN AND THAI PRIME MINISTER DURING HIS VISTI TO CAMBODIA FOR THE FIRST TIME, ALTHOUGH THIS MATTER IS RAISED BY THAI. THIS IS BECAUSE IT IS NOW CLOSE TO THE NATIONAL ELECTION AND IT COULD AFFECT THE ELECTION RESULTS OF THE CPP.
THE CPP NEVER DARE TO CONFRONT WITH A FOREIGN COUNTERPART, BUT THEY ARE STRONG WITH THEIR OWN POEPLE.
THIS SHOWS THE COUNTRYMEN THAT THE CPP IS NOT WILLING TO SETTLE THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE COWARDLY AND SCARED OF LOSING THEIR POWER.
DOWN WITH THE CPP!
THANKS,
CONFRONT all our neighbors, is that how you would run our country?
Alright, alright, just tell me, confront them with what?
HUN SEN should do with all costs to secure this temple. Preah Vihear is just like another Prasat, it is Khmer heritage. Preah Vihear should be drawing in the RIEL's note (Currency).
What do you mean at all cost, mate?
You are not expecting us to be on the front line while you are watching Hollywood movie in a cozy place somewhere, are you?
Do The Right Thing:
If the 7.2 sq km is still in question then it should not be considered or even propose to be the World Heritage Site, but if the 7.2 sq km has already rendered by the Hague International Court in 1963 then it should belong to Cambodia and Cambodia has every right to propose to Unesco for the World Heritage Site. Cambodia must not fall into this discussion proposed by Thai government. Should Thai like to seek for remedy then Thai must petition its government to complaint at the Hague International Court. Cambodia must not engage with the Thai PM in this regard.
I thank you.

what the heck? thailand acts like preah vihear belongs to them. what is wrong with this picture?
Good comment, 12:12 AM
As a human race, the Thai lack instinct of human beings. Humans know what "belonged" to whom, and who were the builders of these monuments. Fighting so persistantly to get what does not belong to you Thais can be equated with the instinct of non-human species. Particularly the unnatural heritage that "was built" from scratch by the strong hard working hands of others and you Thais are just opportunists with little strength to fight and rob. All that have been lost to you Thais have not been forgotten. A fight will come to your door steps and I am positive of this. When? I don't know. But I know our sorrow bitter memory. You Thais have been harrassing the Khmers, now still somewhat weak militarily, and molesting them, us, with arrogance. When the war come to your door steps it will be like the eruption of Saint Hellen mountain. And you Thais are the one sided magnet of that war. We hate war and destruction, we love to build. But we will fight against the criminals.
Thats what we call them Buckjoh "Thief". Or the robber.

Hague international court? The God damned name don't even sound Asian. So shove it.
to 5:35 AM
Please read and read it again. Open your mind you might just learn that there is such an existence of Hague, Netherland...The International Court who rendered its decision for all Khmer. Preah Vihear, Battambong and those surrounding the areas.
As Khmer, you must know your history...if you consider yourself Khmer.
I Thank You.

cambodia, please just ignore this and go on with our plan and see what happen. it is useless to talk to the thai about it. we can do to preah vihear and areas as we please, without the thai interference, thinking that cambodia ought to talk to thai about it. tough luck, siem!!! the entire world knew that preah vihear belonged to cambodia since the international court of justice ruled in favors of cambodia since 1962. case closed a long time ago. so no need to discuss this with siem. why just now? this is not on cambodia's agenda to talk about preah vihear with siem! we don't question about this. we know what belongs to us already!
Alright then, 9:02, why don't you show us the scope of the court finding on Preah Vihear and let us all take a good stab at it.
"...ignore this and go on with our plan." -- 9:33?
Our plan was to develop around the area for the local community.
Are you proposing that we move the community elsewhere?
9:58am, yes, develop the area for local community as cambodia can not keep preah vihear area isolated any longer. it's been too isolated since 1962. must develop the area! i strongly, strongly advice cambodia to develop the preah vihear area because isolation of preah vihear is not good for cambodia, given it is so close to the border with thailand. in addition, preah vihear temple is one of cambodia's national icon. leaving it abandoned and wasted is like saying to siem, it's available, come claim it for yourself. for the one millionth times, do not keep this area isolated any longer, cambodia!!!
of course, i'm glad cambodia is contradicting the thai claim to discuss about preah vihear. of course, cambodia have a different point of view than you idiot siem people. get lost!!!
No, Cambodia only have different view from Gorilla, not Siam.
Yes, 10:16, but in order to proceed with development, all border disputes in that area must be settled first.
It's the Thai who wanted to raise the issue but they said it's Cambodia, then they said it's their top agenda for the Cambodia visit. Do you see the minipulation?
Well, it should be a top agenda when you have people desperately long waited for jobs. This is not Mexico-US border dispute, you know? Over there, they can hold off anything they wanted because no one is dying, and you can't say the same thing here.
