Hearts Without Boundaries
February 27, 2008
Dear Friends,
We have received great news today! Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has agreed to cover the cost of Davik's dental work. She is scheduled to undergo dental surgery on Tuesday, March 4th. As you might imagine, this is a huge relief; these procedures are very, very costly.
If all goes well, she will be able to have all her dental work done in that one visit and then have her heart surgery in a month or so.
That said, Hearts Without Boundaries is still accepting donations for Davik's care. She will likely need anti-biotic and medication after her dental and heart surgeries while she is in the U.S. and in Cambodia, as well as a post-surgery regimen of healthy foods. In addition, her mother, who makes $1 a day in a construction job, will return to Cambodia less three or four months salary.
When asked what her favorite thing about America is, Davik replies "milk." – Something she never had before. Davik is nine years old, but she fits into a jacket-sized 4T (what a four year old child would wear.) She has a long way to go to catch up to a normal, healthy child - but thanks to you care and support she is well on her way!
Many, many thanks for your continued interest and support.
With much respect,
Peter Chhun
