Prince Sisowath Thomico talked to the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper about the criticisms leveled by Prince Norodom Ranariddh against Princess Norodom Arunrasmy, his younger sister, saying that: “Talking about cursing one another, there is no gain in there, there is only more loss. In the past, I used to say that I do not support the strategy whereby the royals are fighting one another, in particular when a younger royal sibling is fighting against her older sibling. But now, it is as I predicted. At the end, both of them are competing against one another, just like enemies.” The prince added: “I regret for the royal renown, I regret for the royalist parties also, and, in particular, I regret for our nation because people can see that (here,) the royals are fighting each others. Princess Arunrasmy is the daughter of King-Father, and Prince Ranariddh is also King-Father’s son. But at the end, the two siblings are fighting each others, this makes others believe that the Cambodian royals are (only good at) fighting each others. For myself, I am very ashamed for our nation.”

To Mr. Sisowath Thomico,

Sir, you are right on the dot. As children of King's bloodline, this son and daughter ought to unite one another for the sake of the nation. Our Cambodian "Motto" clearly spelled out on our flag which bears the terms, Nation, Religion, King. By these definitions, Mr. Ranariddh and Ms. Arunrasmey ought to come to a closure and work toward solving problems in Cambodia and not provoke each other by threatening to use inappropriate langauges when they are supposedly be the representation of excellence.

I felt so sad when I heard a statement made by you, Mr. Thomico. We must stand strong and be ready to deliver to people what we have promised them. Our country is over 2000 years old and we are getting smaller by the day. This would signified that our unity as Khmer is as weak as the columns that are supporting our country.

Time is changing and so the cycle of life. People are getting smarter and more intelligent, thus as leaders of the free world, King next blood lines must affirm themselved and be ready to except greater responsibilities and duties that they have to encounter.

Thank You

ST

Let me remind you Mr. Thomico lest you forgot to read Cambodian history, the Cambodian royals have been fighting and killing one another for years. This is nothing new. The impacts of their feuds have been profound on Cambodia as a nation.

The royalist should look at the example of Thai King, England King, and Japan King, on how their people respect King and royal family members. In the modern society, the king or royal family should be a modern monachy as well.

My personally suggesstion is that the royal family should quit politic and serve as the Independent branch. I heard some reaction from political adicted royalist who claim something like this, or something like that, but it doesn't make sence at all. By doing that bad example is like you're killing yourself and also killing the entire Cambodian nation reputation like kill Khmer.

Enevitably, society will abolish monachy like in Nepal.

to be a good leader, one has to be, not only get lots of education, but also be able to unite the people, calm violence, be neutral when it comes to all cambodian people (don't pick side or be one-sided view, this is not a good trait to have), know about the world in at least can think in a global way, and more. i mean, patriotism, nationalistic, and the ability to speak fluently the language on cambodia first is a leader of great respect. also, be able to do people reading, knows how talk properly is also a very important trait for any leader. etc, etc....
