Dith Pran, the former prisoner of the wall-less jail (KR regime) of the Democratic Kampuchea regime, whose biography under the KR regime was featured in the Hollywood film “The Killing Fields”, is gravely ill because of pancreatic cancer.

65-year-old Dith Pran used to be a translator and an aid to US reporter Sydney Schanberg of the New York Times before Phnom Penh fell into the hands of the KR.

Dith Pran helped Sydney Schanberg and 2 other reporters escaped the KR by lying to them that these reporters were French, therefore, they were independent.

After 1979, he met Sydney Schanberg again, and he became a photographer for The New York Times. He wrote and helped in the writing of several notes about the KR Killing Fields.

Mrs. Vornida, Dith Pran’s daughter-in-law, told RFA that, right now, Dith Pran stays at the Roosevelt Health Care Center in Edison, New Jersey.

Following medication and radiation, the doctors found that the lump in Dith Pran’s pancreas is still growing, and they have decided to stop all medical intervention to allow him to have some time to spend with his friends and family.

It is a very sad news indeed to hear that you have fallen under the grip of a killer disease, Mr. Dith Pran. My prayer is with you always.

Good for him. Hope his blue-eyed goddess can help him.

What a horrible thing to say. We all will take turn, the question is when.

True, but at least we aren't stupid enough to worship any blue-eyed goddess with the hope that they can extend our life beyond what it was meant to be.

Mr. Dith Pran

I wish you the best. You have been a role model to many of us. Your true story has been inspirational world wide and you did Khmer proude.

I am sure, but talk to your doctor. Here are two medicines that have been in the market: 1. Avestin that produced by Genentech, and Rituxan a share product of Genentech and Biogenidec.

1.
