Cambodian Government-run Phnom Penh Television Kampuchea in Cambodian at 0558 GMT on 18 March carried a 82-minute recorded video report, following its midday newscast, on Prime Minister Hun Sen inaugurating the 105-meter bridge of Prek Chrey and a road as well as opening a work site for building Stoeng Meanchey Bridge in Cheung Ek suburb, Dangkao ward, Phnom Penh on the morning of 18 March.
In his address, Hun Sen recounted the government's efforts to build bridges and roads for the people. After, he recalled the military coup staged on 18 March 1970 by Marshall Lon Nol of the Khmer Republic regime to topple the then head of state Norodom Sihanouk and to abolish the Cambodian monarchy.
While reaffirming his resolve to uphold the monarchy and adhere to the policies of Sihanouk's Sangkum Reastr Niyum [People's Socialist Community] regime, Hun Sen also attacked Prince Norodom Ranariddh indirectly, saying, "I am not royalist more than the royals, but can I ask to protect the monarchy? However, now, concretely the one who declares that he is royalist is not able even to defend himself. This is the fact. Therefore, all are asked to try to protect this constitutional monarchy," and never ever say--this remark was aimed at the Sam Rainsy Party [SRP]--the "future of the monarchy should be left for the people to decide." He added, "I wish to point out again that the clauses in the Kingdom of Cambodia's Constitution on the constitutional monarchy and liberal multiparty democratic regime cannot be amended. These points are forbidden from being touched." "Therefore," he added, "our Kingdom of Cambodia will last forever."
Continuing his indirect attack on Prince Ranariddh, Hun Sen warned that even though the Cambodian king was appointed, but this or that prince should "never dream about ascending the throne." It was because the Constitution stipulated that "the king is the head of state for life." He said that to his information, there was somebody wanted to be "king."
Hun Sen also attacked the Royalist Voice program of Prince Ranariddh. He said, "A radio calls itself royalist voice, but it curses other people. I do not know whether the king has listened or not. It calls itself royalist voice but it curses the other people. As such, does it deserve being royalist? This point is difficult. Saying like this, they may say that they are feared. Please go ahead continuing it. You are free. You can give yourself whatever name you want. I do not know. However, acting like that will besmirch the honor of the king, of the royal family, of the monarchic institution, and of the constitutional monarchy."
Also, before ending his address, Hun Sen also said that he would continue to be prime minister so as he could continue to "support the king." Moreover, he announced that the "King Father and Queen Mother will return to Cambodia to celebrate the Cambodian New Year with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren [on 13 April 2008]. This is happy news."

Very preditable move; using the monarchy to win vote because some people still vote blindly for the king.
The King was being used to get the farmers to go into the jungle to support the KR and now the CPP is using it to buy the vote from those farmers again....
Come on. The King knows what to do for the country. He is not being used by Hun Sen, but he uses Hun Sen to keep the country from going to civil war.

Hun Sen's old-fashioned political behaviors
It is not far beyond our common sense of understanding the political behavior of Mr.Hun Sen. His last day political rhetoric about informing human rights NGOs to sue, to arrest, or to convict SRP's activists who have intimidated those defectors is the evidence of Hun Sen's effort to implement his old-fashioned political behavior.
It is normal political twisting of Hun Sen since he came to power. Firstly he likely twisted the neck of his master (Penn Sovann). Since then, Hun Sen has undertaken this political theory throughout his political career. The tendency is that he will use it whenever he is still in power. His political competency is good in this manner only. Other political talent will be difficult for Hun Sen. For example, Hun Sen will try the best to avoid the public debate.
In case of Son San's party, the rife and dissolution of the party is come from within, Cheat Khmer (Khmer Nation Party) also the dissolution is come from within, and recently Funcinpec also caused from within. The tool of Hun Sen to achieve political trick to destroy his opponent also effective through his court.
We also suspect that Thack Keth defecting because of his 3 court verdicts at behind and $$ including high ranking position in front. This "carrot and stick" technique is widely used by Hun Sen and his advisers. We can extend our investigation that many defectors from SRP, some are truly defected for $$$ and position, some defected because their disappointment in SRP, but some have no choice while they are frightened by CPP's activists and political-oriented court at behind and $$$ as well as position in the front. The third premise would be popular and relevant.
In some circumstances, Hun Sen and his advisers created chaos inside society and blame that chaotic situation caused by the opponent. With this theory, Sam Rainsy had to flee Cambodia several times during all social turbulences.
Critically, the act of using "bamboo to cut bamboo" is widely used by Vietnam to achieve their territory expansionism and overcome their enemy. In the moment, Sok Pheng, Ngo Sovann, Chao Phally, etc are the significant tools for Hun Sen to achieve his "twisting political behavior" of "using bamboo to cut bamboo".
However, the magnitude of Hun Sen's "twisting political behavior" has been tremendously changed. In the past, he used guns and armforce; but now he is using governmental-official positions and national budget to lure his opponent and weaken/eliminate their party.
But the outcome of this "twisting political behavior", "carrot and stick", or "bamboo to cut bamboo" has absolutely instilled the fear and social disorder; and it is the main cause of unfair election and weakening the process of genuine democracy in Cambodia.

I am very surprised that AH HUN SEN would go as far as to announce publicly that he would uphold monarchy in Cambodia? What for?
Since Paris Agreement AH HUN SEN always argue on condition that King Sihanouk can rule but can not hold power! What kind a constitutional or ceremony King is this when Cambodian King doesn’t even have a say in any stupid Cambodian politic especially in dealing with the Vietcong and the Thaicong regarding Cambodian border problem and at the end AH HUN SEN has the gut to order King Sihanouk to ratify illegal Vietcong and Thaicong border treaties which claimed many of part of Cambodian land and sea borders!

He wants to let the royals know that "If you don't be my slaves I will abolish the monarchy like in 1970, just follow me blindly." This is Hun Sen's message to the royals.
