The National Election Committee (NEC) said that it is short of $2.5 million in fund needed for expense in the preparation of the upcoming 27 July 2008 election. Tep Nitha, NEC secretary-general, told RFA that the NEC needs $2.5 million more in funding and that it currently begging this amount from various foreign governments. The NEC needs a total of $17 million in fund for the preparation of the 27 July 2008 election. Currently, the NEC received the funding pledges of $14 million already, and that it only needs $2.5 million more. The fund shortage is taking place while the election is only about 3 months away.
