The Cambodian New Year Parade objectives have seemed to change right before our eyes. Thanks to web archives, we are able to see what it used to be.

Parade Objectives
  • Highlight Cambodian Culture
  • Focus on the Community and businesses on the Anaheim Corridor
  • Spotlight on "Cambodia Town", the largest Cambodian Community outside Cambodia
  • Improve community relationships among people of different backgrounds
  • End the isolation and begin the participation of Cambodian-Americans in mainstream events
  • Show unity in Cambodian community
As of today, the parade objectives have been changed to coincide with the invitation that was given to Deputy Prime Minister Sok An. I am not sure when exactly that change took place, but it must be very recent.

Objectives of the Cambodian New Year Parade

The New Year Parade committee maintains a strict policy of non-discrimination regarding participation in the parade. The parade's main objectives are to promote Cambodian culture, harmony among diverse local communities, area businesses and neighborhoods, and particularly Cambodia Town USA. Political slogans and election campaigns are strickly prohibited.

In reference to the democratically-elected and internationally recognized Cambodian Government, we follow the official policy as defined by the U.S. Department of State. We believe past parade made positive impressions on participating Camboidan officials: they observed the joy and pride of the Long Beach Cambodian-Americans and the personal freedoms enjoyed by all citizens under the United States law.

Official Cambodian delegations participating in past parades and celebrations have included: H.E. Than Pok (Former-Secretary of State of Ministry of Education), H.E. Vora Kanthoul (Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs), H.E. Sin Neung (Former-Parliament Member), H.E. Song Chhang (Former-Senator and current Advisor to the Royal Government), H.E. Dr. Widhya Chem (Former-Ambassador to UN and current Ambassador to Germany). Also participated from the economic and nongovernmental sectors, Mr. Sokha Kem (Former-Director of NGO Center for Human Rights), and Representatives from Cambodian Rice Miller Association and Small and Medium Size Enterprises.

While we acknowledge the current Cambodian government is not perfect, we follow the example demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, promoting constructive dialogue and advocating change through peacefull means.

Regardless of the Cambodian government's political party affiliation, we will continue to invite official Cambodian delegations to participate in the parade. We promote freedom, democracy, and free trade activity in Cambodia by presenting the best of the American value system in action.

We welcome all participants who believe in our objectives. We will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on race, color, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion or political affiliation. We also prohibit discrimination based on any other factor prohibited by federal, state or local law.

Oh! Don't forget to include an effigy of the ratarded gorilla! We're certain that the Long Bitch community will be so proud of it, since it symbolizes the retarded community.

What do you think, mate?

it's sound like they are welcoming a civil law suit. Folks, American Civil Liberty Union is available!

CAMBODIAN-AMERICAN CITIZENS - H.E. Than Pok (Former-Secretary of State of Ministry of Education), H.E. Vora Kanthoul (Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and H.E. Song Chhang (Former-Senator and current Advisor to the Royal Government).

and i don't the two people as follow:

H.E. Sin Neung (Former-Parliament Member), H.E. Dr. Widhya Chem (Former-Ambassador to UN and current Ambassador to Germany).

But the critical point is what the different between the people listed above versus Sok An?

This is the work of the boneheads, peroid!

the law suit is coming and the demonstration is definitely coming as well.

is a good move by the community leader. I support this new objectvies. This will open up Cambodian town to more future Cambodian leaders without discrimination of party. If they come as representatives of Cambodia to share happiness in our community let them join. But if they come with political message, we also have a right to protest.

Looks like a win-win. Sok An and other figures are not allow to propagate and the people are suppose to tolerate. so if Sok An does not follow his words then don't blame the people for not biding to theirs as well.

Its no gorilla community. These people have built up a thriving successful community for themselves. If you are not proud go back to where you are don't mind your head into their business.

There is only one gorilla in this forum and he is in heat!

What is changing before the stupid gorilla eye? Nothing.

They are on crack and hallucinating as usual.

Khmer officials had been in the parade all along. Nothing has changed.

May I propose to the Cambodia Town committee to invite an opposition leader, like Sam Rainsy, as well as Sok An, so it is even. They can cut the ribbon together. In this way no one can say that the the Cambodia Town committee is taking side. If this can be done then everything will be quiet. And it is fair.

Why invite losers?

Aside, they live there already, you don't have to invite them.

Invitation are for non-residence.

When you visit out country again?
We'll take our PM's special car to receive you, k Phim?

Khmer Young said...

Why there are different objectives from the begining?

And when the town is not affiliated with any political bodies, why Sok Ann has to be invited.

CPP's high ranking members have never differentiated the different between national duties and political agenda...shit

Anyone can participate in the parade if chosen. Sok An or Hun Sen is still OK. Get to jump a bandwagon, otherwise, would miss a good fortune. If one wants to change a direction of others, one must create trust and feelings in between. Anger has no place for that. I beleive this is quite simple.

If this is Khmer-American parade, Khmer-American should have first hand decision here, not Ah Khmer-Yuon-American, Khmer-Thai-American, French-American, African-American, ... or Jewish-American. They should make decision their own parade, not for others.

Long Beach is for every one from all corners of the world come and go, and do as they please. Now Ly Diep and associates tell the whole world cannot come to Long Beach without their permission. What kind of people are they? Do they rule Long Beach? When did he own Long Beach? If they talk about Cambodia Town in Long Beach, Cambodia Town it’s just a symbolic name in the air, no concrete boundaries. So how far distance is under Ly Diep’s dictatorship control? Ly Diep started the internet war and now he calls upon all Khmers to stand up to fight Khmers; and he tells everyone he’s a patriotic and a hero. But, if you ask Cambodians now living in Cambodia, they would say he is a hero of “A Pourk Root Chaurl Srok”, and without them still living in Cambodia, who are going to guard the land to call Cambodia. Cambodia may gone long time ago to Thailand and Vietnam. Ly Diep should thank them for not “Root Chaurl Srok”. Now back to Ly Diep’s war, how many soldiers does he have now? I guest he is a member of Cambodian Veteran Association, he must get a few who believe in him and consider him as their hero or big brother, and recently he recruits a good intelligent force from Khmer Soul. I said a few of Veterans because some is fed up with war and not support Ly Diep. And some are gone to haven reported by Harrison Lee, CVA President’s accomplishment report - CVA attended more than 10 funerals and had a fundraising party. I feel so sad for their lost. Salute CVA! Are you with Ly Diep to fight his war?

At first, I didn't know anything about this idiot (Ly Diep), but thank to people here, now I know.

And as I said all along, "We all here open minded to learn from each other."

Navy Phim and her group are doing fine everyone respect their work, but when Navy Phim and her group associated with a Con man Ly Diep or Ly Ngoc Dinh, they won't get support from million who're watching it.
There are hundred thousand of us in LB don't want to see Ly Diep in the picture. This old fart needs to be at the mental hospital or shut up.

You means that Richer San, Peter Long now are Ah Khmer-Youn-American? If this parade is all about Khmer decision, how you and I stop Ah Khmer-Youn-American from showing in the parade?

Anonymous said...

Who said Richer San and Peter Long are Ah Khmer-Yuon-American?

Anyhow, it is up to Khmer-American representative, not individual to decide what and who should be in the parade. Otherwise, it will be a nightmare in LB.

Anonymous said...

Who call Richer San and Peter Long "Ah Khmer-Yuon-American", you did not do your homework.
Here's homework for you. Go ask these individuals: Harrison Lee, Bryant Ben, Poline Soth and Ly Diep:
What is KACC?
When and Why KACC was formed?
Who are the board members?
How many are organizations under KACC umbrella?
What is the mission and vision?
What are the accomplishments?
Where happen to the organization now?

Please put their answers on this blog so everyone can see. Or, you can ask Ly Diep to do it. He has no life. He's sitting in front of his computer 24h a day and 7 days a week, starts the internet war, and call upon compatriotics to fight for his personnal crap.

KACC was formed by the so call Khmer patriots or comrades who resigned from Cam-CC because he did not get re-elected as President, then turned around accusing Richer San & Peter Long of staging a coup d’etat to oust him. That is a lie. KACC is a copy cat and a competitor to Cam-CC. Therefore, KACC mission is to break up Cambodian community in halves, into two divided groups.
KACC is an umbrella to ghost or one-man organizations, and led by Bryant Ben as President. The guy who does not want to let go his Cam-CC President title. Under KACC umbrella, Poline Soth leads “Little Phnom Penh”, Ly Diep is advisor, his wife (Som Rum) leads Khmer-American Chamber of Commerce, same structure as Cam-CC except “Cambodian” to “Khmer”. “Little Phnom Penh” is to compete with “Cambodia Town, Inc.” and with mission is to further break community in every levels into small pieces.

KACC accomplishment?
Answer: Nothing. Members are too busy boozing, bashing, lying, pushing behind other ethnic groups to oppose Cambodia Town. They make community fear of gang warfare if Cambodia Town ever exists. They waste so much energy in anger, focus in publishing lies, and forget to make their dream come true, the Little Phnom Penh. They have “my way or no way”, “I’m a fighter”, “I’m a superior”, “I'm a destroyer” attitudes.

For community involvement, what is the positive image KACC projected to the Long Beach Cambodian community?
Answer: Negative and Zero, comparing to Cambodia Town with $150,000 (150K) pledge to the brand new Mark Twain library with donations from Sichan Siv, Richer San, Sithea San, Peter Long, and more. Who are going to believe that these donors are Vietnamese putting their money to have “Cambodia Town USA” named for the library community room?

KACC wants to be friend withCambodia Town?
Answer: NO, KACC did not send a congratulations letter or word when Cambodia Town was approved. But, King Sihamony, King Father Sihanouk, Sok An are more proud of Long Beach community more than KACC with congratulation letters sent from Cambodia. Why Ly Diep advisor of KACC wants a piece of cake too?

KACC supports the parade?
Answer: NO, not for the past 3 parades, KACC never participates. And, Angkor Borei plus Sereipheap newspaper never say good thing about the parades. Ly Diep not only accuses organizers but also cyclos as Vietnamese cyclos. This fool love to fight with every thing even an object. He did not even come to watch the parades in the past because he said it just a stupid thing for stupid people or people of April 17. Why this 2008 parade is so important to him now? It looks like he wants to control the parade, and turns around lies about Sok An presiding over the parade. Ly Diep is totally in sane!

Final note:
Imagine, if “Little Phnom Penh” was to be approved instead of Cambodia Town, I would think poeple have to apply for a passport to go to Little Phnom Penh from KACC office, otherwise they will be thrown out by Khmer Veterans or comrades.

KACC, Khmer-American Coordinating Council

KACC, CamCC if both collude with politic, both should be kicked out from Long Beach, desolved them both because both torn Cambodian here in Long Beach or ghetto apart.
To all of you hold position in each organization you are to hung, bro, you should be ashame of yourself for all causes you have done. Go to heaven, bro.

Anonymous said...

Good idea friend, but not so fast. You must kick KACC first because it a copy cat of Cam-CC. It's not so easy. You have to follow the organization by laws. Poline Soth is the expert in laws and best in destroying an organization. He is destroying the temple IRAP.

Law knew Poline Soth, but Poline Soth doesn't know Law. If he did he might not be so immoral trying to interfeer with the religion. He dig up hole in temple so he can bring his people to hell. Slogan "if you don't do good so don
t do bad." He thought he did good, religious wise he is devilish.
