Report by Licadho
As of February 2008, there are 562 women living in 18 out of Cambodia's 26 prisons. Of these women, 4 were pregnant and 43 women brought their children to live with them in prison or had given birth to children while in prison, for a total of 50 children living with their mothers in prison.
Life in Cambodian prisons is a harsh reality for any individual. Limited access to food and clean water, overcrowding of prison cells, routine denial of quality medical services and violence towards prisoners from prison officials and other inmates is a part of everyday life. Life in prison becomes even more difficult when you are pregnant, or if you bring your children to live with you in prison.

I don't see anything wrong with our prison. That is what prison supposed to be like.
I read thru the whole report. Skeptical about her arrest. It can be true , and it can be she lied.
But so pity on her and her daughter if it is a true story.
Sighed...
Life is down and down for her...

You said, "I don't see anything wrong with our prison. That is what prison supposed to be like".
You must not be fully informed of the whole thing here. I used to visit prisons in Cambodia, working for NGO that provided assistance to child inmates. And I want to tell you that the whole prison system is dysfunctional--the facility, the management, the maintenance do not work. You have to be there to see it to believe it.
Hey, I believe what you say, mate (10:27). But what I am saying is that's the way it should be. Many of our law abiding citizen don't have everything functional either; so why should prisoner entitle to more?
