SRP Commune Chief Tuot Saron (L) seen here distributing help to one of his poor constituents, was arrested from false charge
Phnom Penh March 20, 2008
IMMEDIATE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF SRP COMMUNE CHIEF
Sam Rainsy Party calls on the Kompong Thom court to unconditionally and immediately release Mr. Tuot Saron, a commune chief of Pong Ro, Kampong Thom province, who was charged and jailed on 19 March, 2008 for a crime he did not commit.
Mr. Tuot Saron was arrested in Kompong Thom a day after the Prime Minister openly ordered the court to take action against him. In the same speech, other SRP members were mentioned by PM as possible targets for arrest. For the court to act under direct order made by PM without proper investigation is clearly explain the power of the Prime Minister Hun Sen over the court, judges and prosecutors as identified by the UN special envoys for Human Rights in Cambodia.
The use state and private media to disseminate orders for arrest members of opposition party is not just an abuse of power, but also an attempt to spread fear among voters and members of political opponent who are rejecting the CPP. Such action is seriously violating Human Rights, particularly the political rights of our citizens which is one of the most fundamental human rights stipulated in our Constitution and UN Conventions.
SRP is gravely alarmed by the current political environment which is not conducive to free and fair election to be held on 27 July, 2008, just four months from now.
SRP strongly urges the International Community to call on the government and the National Election Committee to take all measures to immediately stop these political harassment and threat so that the 2008 election can and will be held with free and fair environment.
SRP calls on the International Community not to delay sending observers to monitor the upcoming election and to seriously take note of the recent political development as a threat to free and fair election.

Would say that it is an act of abuse of power to use state media but not the private media due to the facts that they have their rights to support or not support any particular political party.
but also an attempt to spread fear among voters and members of political opponent who are rejecting the CPP?
That's grossly exagerated! Everyone know that ballot is a secret paper or unless the person wants to make it public then everyone else would know who he vote for.
the people in cambodia were either dead or have no brain to be considered human. Because human society under the current social and political system would have risen up in arm and revolt, may be not for vote stealing and such, but for the condition of living they are subjected to.
Tibets rises even in the face of the fascist and cruel murderer chinese regime.
What will become of cambodian society?
Bullshit, PM doesn't even know the terrorist (Tuot Saron). How could he had ordered for his arrest?
If the court find him guilty as charged by the plaintiff, just lock him up and throw away the key.
Dear 6:37 AM,
That's what the foreign-engineered (Viet/Chinese) Killing Fields was designed to do to Khmer people....don't you know that? Even Sihanouk was part of it, killing his own "petit peuple(little people)", just to crush Khmer's spirit once and for all....Khmer can no longer fight for themselves...
That's why we (you and I) must fight to save Khmer inhabitant from the Viet/Yuon agressors/intruders/invaders...
But do not take my word for it..research and ask around...you'll hear and see plenty.
The Viet/Yuon never stops lobbying for their interest to write Khmer off of the map of the world....never!!!
Ah Tuot Saron is a corrupted terrorist.
WTF? It looks like he served only one poor constituent and pocket the rest of the money for himself.
Therefore, I say look up the damn crook.
hunsen is worst then a viet dump pig that why he didn't see what is right and what is wrong,he should let the next generation help to clean his bad history.Almost 30 years passed Cambodia is still enlarging corruptions and lawlessness,so please stop just look around your vietcong cronies, some day they will kill you like you kill Cambodian people.
Wrong, Cambodia is not lawless, but the only way to know is to try it.
