Original report from Phnom Penh
11 April 2008
Thai officials censured the Cambodian government Thursday, claiming it had sent soldiers into a disputed area near a contentious temple in Preah Vihear province.
The Preah Vihear temple, subject of many diplomatic rows in recent years, is perched atop a cliff straddling the border between Cambodia and Thailand.
The Thai foreign ministry protested the alleged troop deployment to Cambodia's ambassador, the Bangkok Post reported. Soldiers had been demining in a disputed area, the Post reported.
Uch Borith, secretary of state for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called the allegations "baseless."
Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith denied any deployment of troops and asked the Thai government to properly resolve problems before speaking to the press.
"I, the spokesman of the Cambodian government, confirm that the government did not mobilize any troops or add more troops at all" to the area, he said. "We regret that the Thai side did not discuss first with the competent authorities, with which we have an agreement. If it thinks about the friendship between both countries, and about membership in Asean, the Thai government should review the agreement on the resolution of conflict."

Just to make the voice and concerned heard by the world before Cambodia submits Preah Vihear temple to UNESCO. If Cambodia is not strong, then this message will be referred for objection in the submission again. Thai tries all means to destruct Cambodia.
All lands around the Preah Vihear complex belong to Cambodia so the Cambodia govt. has the right to send the troops there. Cambodia must stand firm to ensure that Preah Vihear is listed on the World Heritage List.
khmer people are like a big sausage, along with the vietcong and thaicong like the two ballz.
you know what i mean guy? khmer people went through alot because of the fken ballz hanging around us (vietcong, thaicong) those fuken testicle.
hahaha , lol
Hey, just stay out of Thai territory. We don't need anymore war for a few meters of land.
The Thaicong are resorting to lying to the press to get attention!
It doesn't matter how hard the Thaicong want to hang on to Cambodian Phrea Vihear temple and the end they will fall on their face!
Wrong, the Thai don't want the Temple, they just want their land in the area established. That way, we both can start to develop the area for the good of Khmer people as well as Khmer-Issan.
Tell that to your mother because the Thaicong are looking at the wrong map!
How come the Thais are complaining about 'demining'? Ask yourself how the mines got there, then you'll know whether it's Thai or Khmer territory.
Preah Vihear belongs to Cambodia; it's situated in the Cambodian territory. The Thai has no business whatsoever to do with the Cambodia troops deployment near Preah Vihear, unless the Thai wants to steal Preah Vihear one more time.
i guess the thai are also so good at scrutinizing cambodia. i think cambodia ought to be doing the same to them. once a thieve will always be a thieve in khmer eyes. too bad for them, as they tried so hard to absorb khmer culture and identity and make it theirs, but it fails them all the times. in fact, i don't think thailand even have their real genuine culture; they adopted or for lack of terms stole khmer identity and tried desparately to convince the world to recognize that; however the entire world knows better that thailand or siam borrowed their so-called cultural identity from the former khmer empire and civilization and they tried desparately so hard to convince the world, especially the western world to believe that they are better and more favorable than khmer or cambodia. all the world really need to know from khmer is that just look at the history of the khmer civilization, the thai were actually mercenary refugees in the khmer empire during the golden age of khmer great civilization of angkor, and much much later, after our great angkor kings died from old age, they declared their independence and adopted or borrowed all aspects of khmer identity and culture and tried to make it their own without even crediting our khmer ancestors for given them the concepts or ideas or knowledge that they had today as a nation. the fact is the history of the khmer shows that thailand or siam were conceieved from the vaining khmer civilization. however, the only problem with that is that the thai had always failed to credit our khmer ancestors for their very exixtence as a nation they know of today as thailand. i'm sure people who are well in depth educated on khmer civilization are very much aware of this truth. well, my point is, thailand needs to stop making claim that everything in cambodia belongs to them where as the opposite is more true when khmer people claim that everything in thailand belonged to the khmer race. i encourage everyone to study our great khmer civilization and history as cambodia is so rich with history and more. it just happened that we khmer don't really care or take it seriously like the thai or even the viets for that matter. however, the truth is khmer was the master of the southeast asia peninsula that encompassed cambodia, vietnam, thailand, laos, and to some extend, northern tip of malaysia to the burma border. can't deny the truth in history, just have to accept the fact even though the thai don't like to say this. but we khmer people knew the truth already, and we always credit other people for who they are, not like the thai or the viet or some extent, especially when we talk about our great civilization of angkor, etc., we give proper credit to anyone who were the origin of concepts or ideas even if we borrowed from them, say, like the great civilization of india that we borrowed from originally, for whom we always credited for our great civilization of angkor and culture and tradition for that matter. the difference is khmer give proper credit to our great ancestors. i can't say the same for the thai and the viet for that matter.
That is a bunch of shits from Hollywood. There is no evidence to support your imaginary history.
The thai are not all foreigner. They are Khmer. Every time you disagree with any Khmer you called them Thai, Lao, or Yuon, and claimed that they stole your land and culture.
The truth is what Chinese people in their right mind would want to steal Khmer culture. They are very proud of their own culture. Only Khmer would want to be Khmer and they need not to still anything from Khmer in Cambodia because they are already Khmer. Get it?
3:14am, good point when you said "everytime a khmer disagree with something, especially in politics or personal, they often call others thai, lao or youn, so this to instigate hatred and more." i think your observation here is quite too common of how khmer people view their neighbor. i mean as much as i hated the thai for claim our preah vihear or the viet for stealing koh tral and kampuchea krom, and the french for allowing the viets to take kampuchea krom etc... but you do have a good point there. i guess it's in the khmer blood to say this kind of thing. i think it sad, to say the least. that's was because the thai, the viets have traditional disrespect khmer culture, beliefs, etc. so it's only natural for khmer to retaliate in this way or another.
No, the Khmer retaliate wildly and irrationally because they didn't know the truth. What they didn't know is they were brainwashed to protect the wealth of their kings and queens that oppressed them. That is one of the Khmer weakness. That is they didn't know that they are being used by the people they are protecting.
We must stop living in denial. It is better to lost our land to our neighbors than to lose our land to the foreigners. At least the asset will remain in the region, but when we lose land to the French or other EU, our asset went west and left everyone in poverty. The stupid king (Norodom's and Sisowat's parent)who invited the French over to protect Cambodia had no intention to protect Cambodia per se, but to protect their filthy wealth. That is all. If we lost our land to the Thai, Lao, or Viet, there is not much lost for us individually, but for the stupid and immoral kings and queens. Get it?
