Dith was the Cambodian-born journalist whose harrowing tale of enslavement and eventual escape from that country's murderous Khmer Rouge revolutionaries in 1979 became the subject of the award-winning film 'The Killing Fields.' He was working as an interpreter and assistant for Schanberg in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital, when the Vietnam War reached its chaotic end in April 1975 and both countries were taken over by Communist forces. Many people mourn the death of Dith Pran. Many people mourned the death of Ms Pisith Pilika and tens of thousands joined her funeral (1999). Many people mourned the death of Mr. Chea Vichea and tens of thousands joined his funeral(2004). The death of Mr. Dith Pran, Ms Pisith Pilika and Mr. Chea Vichea are a loss to the Cambodian community. But they are remembered - in different ways. Some people are still fighting for justice for Ms Pisit Pilika and Mr. Chea Vichea.

A lesson for youth in particular. They should have a goal for their life, a goal that will be reflected in the feelings of people after their death: Do they want people to mourn their death and feel their loss ? How do they want to be remembered?

The death of Dith Pran has nothing to do with "justice" as you've ineloquently encapsulated for your readers. In fact, it was his debilitating desease (pancreatic cancer) that ended his life (tragically, and my heart goes to his friends and families)-- again, not "justice" as you've alluded; also, we should not link his death into yet another collusion and creating political cirus atmosphere among the opposition leaders.

GO!

To be clear for the records, Pran never and ever claimed himself a political voice but a decent citizen of birth country to speak for victims and future of his Cambodia not to be mired by violent killing like the one done and engineerd by Sihanouk and co-conspiracy during 70-79.

It's shame for Khmers, hundreds of non Khmers showed and paid great respect to Pran.Only a handful beside his family are Khmers on that day.

It's saddened my heart to witness that. Please leave him alone from now.
