Prime Minister Hun Sen appealed to foreign and local businesses to support him in the upcoming election period, as his ruling party faces ongoing criticism for inflation.
His appeal, during a forum between the government and the private sector in Phnom Penh, comes as the ruling Cambodian People’s Party is experiencing pressure from economic forces, such as inflation, the high cost of food and a recent rice crisis.
“I would like to inform you all that whatever Hun Sen does for winning, it’s not only winning for Hun Sen and the CPP, but the whole nation wins,” the prime minister said.
“I would like clearly to inform you all that I have made everything for the Cambodian nation, but I also need the election won,” Hun Sen added. “If the private sector wants me to participate in continually leading you all, you all support me, because if you all let me lose, you also lose.”
Political observers say that many of the high-profile businesses in Cambodia run mutli-million-dollar enterprises with the support of the ruling party.
“If people vote for me, there is no war, and you don’t have to run into the trenches,” Hun Sen also said.
Human Rights Party Vice President Keo Remy said Hun Sen’s speech was a sign of pressure on the businessmen.
“If HRP wins the election, there is no war and fear for people, because HRP doesn’t take anyone as an enemy and doesn’t take revenge against anyone,” he said.
Cambodia was unlikely to experience war no matter who wins the election, he said.
Sam Rainsy Party parliamentarian Yim Sovann said Hun Sen and the ruling party had failed to progress the economy and were now turning to businesses for help.
Ly Sothea Rayuth, a program officer for the National Democratic Institute, said Hun Sen’s speech in a public venue “threatened the spirit of voters.”

Of course, you are ficking right! You are a puppet of Vitnam already; who would come to fight a war with a puppet? Perhaps he doesn't understand the meaning of words "Ayorng=A puppet"
It is again that Hun Sen's ability in his political career is good only through threatening and intimidation. He has no ability at all to persuade investments, improving economic, and exercising genuine democracy etc
Why he said "if Hun Sen wins the election, Cambodian people will have no fear of war and going to trench"?
Why he said "if Hun Sen wins the election, all businessmen can gain more.."?
His statement implicitly distorted the principle of democracy and stability of Cambodia.
Please, stop such political behavior Mr. Hun Sen if you want your name and leadership be recognized by younger Cambodian generation.

It's a fear mongering tactics from an evil leader before the election. He exploits the election by fearing his people.
This evil puppets declares that if he loses the election he will go back into the forest and fight another war? Maybe not so, ha, because you are rich already. This rustic is very closed minded, thinking that only him has the ability to govern the country; you're dead wrong, you the blind dogs. There are a lot more Khmer patriots who are much much better than you idiotic clowns of Vietnam. If there's no Vietnam's protection you might be go to hell alive. You should just give up the power
peafully so that your offsprings can be living in peace among Cambodian people. But I don't think
mad dog can be that broad-minded.
hun sen said "If people vote for me, there is no war, and you don’t have to run into the trenches.” How can the people let him threaten them with this kind of option. I don't think he has the balls to go to war again just like in 1997. I don't think his army and police will be able to handle about 10-12 millions that are starving. They will fight this time rather than hiding like the last time. They have nothing to loose but only to gain a better group of people to lead the country so that their dream of a better life will be realized. Therefore, I wish hun sen will not just barking. Let's do some bitting. Remember folks, when there is time to fight, he runs away to vietnam. He 's a coward!!!! He doesn't have the guts. I hope the voters will not fall for his bluff. Otherwise, it's going to be another tough 5 more years.
dr. hun-slave kvak should step down now. he is so rude and disrespect his own people and country. he shouldn't be a leader in the first place. he is nothing but an animal! tell him to go back to vietnam!
i don't know how his kids reacted and wonder how they can stand with this guy, dr. hunslave for life.
I believe what Hun Sen tried to say was that if another party wins the election the will be a cleansing of many foreigners from Cambodia, the Vietnamese in particular. Yes, why not get rid of these pathetic people from our society. We have enough poor Khmers in Cambodia for all to see. We don't need these Vietnamese to add a terrible picture to Cambodia.
That is the mind a fool who is afraid of a free and fair competition. He is unable to see the free world conducting the elections because he's blind both physically and spiritually. Next time if loses he's the one who migh need to hide himself and his whole family his Tiger's Lair. He's completely intoxicated with too much pride and cockiness.
Pong Kdor! AH Moha Decho mad dog.

Your thought is crazily based...you are so clinging to idea that opposition leaders are racism like Pol Pot. Your assumption is deadly wrong.
Cambodia has national constitution and laws, human rights are fully respected by opposition parties, but CPP has been using it as their political tools to commit impunity and dictatorship.
Wake up man!
Reread your comment one more time, 2:PM. It's untrue as you claimed, you idiot!
cambodian people, please be educated to make judgment for yourself as people's power required an educated public or populated. thank you.
