Khieu Kanharith, spokesman for the government, told the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper that the government will take measure against incitement activities leading to demonstration. He made this comment at a time when a report is circulating indicating that some political activists are distributing letters calling for a demonstration. Khieu Kanharith claimed that there is no country in the world where people go around distributing letters to call for a demonstration. He said that if such action occurs, it would constitute an incitement action to create unrest in order to serve political interest, and that this action is an attempt for economic sabotage. Khieu Kanharith asks the authority to arrest anyone who distributes letters calling for a demonstration. On 30 March, opposition leader Sam Rainsy announced that his party will lead a mass demonstration to protest the rising price of merchandises, and he called on all Cambodians to join this demonstration with the SRP. The following day, on 01 April, the 24 SRP MPs issued a letter calling all the people to join the demonstration which will be held on 06 March 2008.
