Monument inaugurated in Cambodia to commemorate Chinese peace-keeping soldiers
KAMPONG CHAM, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy and the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense here on Wednesday unveiled a monument for two Chinese peace-keeping soldiers who were killed in a rocket attack 15 years ago in this eastern province.
"The monument now stands at the place where the two Chinese soldiers, Chen Zhiguo and Yu Shili, maintained peace for the country, to tell about our commemoration and the praise of the Cambodian government and people," said Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jinfeng at the ceremony.
The six-meter-tall monument bears pictures of the Chinese flag, the logo of the United Nations, the blue helmet and pigeon.
According to the Chinese- and Cambodian-language introduction on the monument, Chen and Yu were killed by anonymous rocket attack at their campsite on May 21, 1993.
The two, together with some other 800 Chinese engineering soldiers, were then stationed in war-ravaged Cambodia to carry out peace-keeping missions under the arrangement of the United Nations.
From April 1992 to September 1993, this team renovated over 500 kilometers of roads, established 36 bridges, overhauled two airports and constructed hundreds of camp houses.

All peacemakers are our brothers and we should never forget them.
However, we must get rid of Ah Evil Vicious Children Killer Xam Rainxy now before he can inflicted more pain and suffering on our people.
Are U crazy, or out of your mind, 1:52AM?
What is so crazy about protecting the Khmer people and children from the pain and suffering inflicted by Ah Xam Rainxy notorious killer and torturer.
This 3:30 AM, vietcong troll is everywhere on this blog. He/she seems to be very negative about everything the real khmer people.
Get real and get lost would YA!
No, we must eliminate all suffering from Cambodia by bringing Ah Xam Rainxy notorious killer to justice.
The chinese never acknowledge their involvement in the killing field.
Communist chinese are killers with sihanouk behind them.
communist china want to occupied cambodia by killing all khmers and replace them with chinese starting in 1979. but VN must occupied cambodia, thus invaded before the chinese killed every khmer and would loss all pretext to save cambodia.
Now communist china use dollars and sihanouk again to occupy cambodia. For evidence, look along the mekong river in Loas how chinese communities sprung up. Communist china plan the same with cambodia. Look around the country, you'll find chinese communities and vietnamese community competing on khmer soil today.
If you think you are smarter than these chinese, think again. They are not letting it go this time.
Before khmer realizes it, it will be too late.
