Vietnam, Cambodia boost broadcast cooperation11/04/2008

VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to increase bilateral cooperation in broadcasting, as agreed to during a visit by the General Director of the Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV) to the neighbouring country.
At a meeting on April 9 during the visit, General Director of the VOV Vu Van Hien agreed to provide music and song broadcasts in Vietnamese to the Radio Voice of Cambodia, as requested by the Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Canharith.
Hien also presided at the inauguration of a FM broadcasting station in Xvai Rieng Province, which had installed broadcasting equipment donated by the VOV.
Minister Khieu expressed thanks for VOV’s technical assistance as well as its support in training Cambodian broadcast technicians over the past few years.
On the behalf of the Cambodian Government, Minister Khieu offered an “Honourary Medal” to Gen. Director Hien and VOV’s staff, who helped install Vietnam-donated FM transmitters, in recognition of their contribution to broadcasting in Cambodia.

Leading with FEAR by current government of Cambodia
No mention the FEAR and PTSD of the KR. Our current government leadership has fabricated the situation to intensify FEAR through:
1. Repeating past brutality
2. Power monopoly of Hun Sen and his cronies in the government.
3. Policemen and military including higher ranking Buddhist monk leaders are not neutral and belonging to national institution. They are inclining to political party (CPP).
4. Major national mass media both TV and Radio are performing one side interviewing or reporting. No media ethic for those reporters being practiced to create justice and non-fear for the audience (listeners) at all.
5. Land-grabbing is likely doubling
6. Politically-affiliated judiciary system is widely conducted.
7. High ranking officers are not working for the nation and Cambodian peoples. Major part of their work is to favor political party (CPP).
8. Hun Sen's public political rhetoric is still showing the prospect of FEAR.
9. Many murderers are still floating without punishing. Culture of impunity is the main source of FEAR.
10. Dissents are always threatened. Opposition parties are being split from inside through threatening, positioning, bribing, or using government court.
11. Complex procedure of voting system in Cambodia is supportive to FEAR for less educated Cambodians.

people, please be worldly educated. i mean as much as i don't want to see viet or thais in cambodia, but we are living in a new era, a new world view is important. i think khmer krom and khmer leu in both thailand and vietnam should be allowed the same rights to listen to khmer music and to learn khmer language as viet and thai are having their language taught in some cambodian higher institution in the name of foreign language study courses. khmer language should be taught in their schools as well so people who came to visit cambodia can understand our culture and traditional as cambodia is a country and is very unique in the world. if people can accept that, then we don't have any problem with thai and viet visiting cambodia and doing businesses with khmer people. but first people like viet and thai must learn about cambodia culture and language so they can understand where we come from because we are not like them in anyway, shape or form. if they can respect us, we don't have any problem with them because we have more to lose than they are given we want to keep cambodia unique in the world in many ways, culturally speaking. as long as they are smart and educated about it, then i think we will be ok with that.
