The visit of Tea Banh, the vice-prime minister and minister of defense, to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) on 25 March is turning in questions for a number of Cambodian people.

Sourn Serey Ratha, the chief mission of the Action Committee for Justice and Equity for Cambodians Overseas (ACJEC) wrote a letter dated 28 March asking Tea Banh why he needed to ask forces from the SRV to help maintain security and public order during the upcoming July election.

In response to this question, Phay Siphan, an official from the Council of Ministers wrote back, in the name of the Cambodian government, saying the question raised by Sourn Serey Ratha is untruthful and exaggerated.

The correspondence above stems from the meeting between Tea Banh and Nguyen Minh Triet, the SRV president, which was reported by the Vietnamese News Agency (VNA).

Based on the VNA report, Tea Banh asked the Vietnamese Defence Ministry to assist and share experiences in maintaining security and public order in an effort to ensure Cambodia’s legislative elections, scheduled for July, are a success.

I'm a bit slowed. I don't see a different meaning between the two statements made.

this proof that the vietcong is still behind the hunsen CPP since day one. the CPP cannot win without the assist from yuon. this showed that when the uneducated people wanted to run the country, they showed fear and panic like that. like the KR ran by the chinese, and now the CPP runs by the vietcong, these people used to say they won from their empty hands. so why do we need to have a king anyway, if cambodia is still under the vietcong indirected control?????..or is he just a puppet king that have no heart and soul!?!...by now
i think all khmer/cambodian people still asleep. who knows..by time all Cambodians wake up...maybe it's too late. eeyore!

Abolish the king. Declare Cambodia as a republic state. Rename Cambodia to Angkor Republic. Topple(how?) Hun Sen regime and rebuild our motherland. The SRP political mobilities are not promising, but it is a good start. Today, we have sufficiency scholars abroad and in Cambodia to start anew Khmer era. May God bless my home and my siblings.

Tea Banh's (and CPP's) measure of success of the Cambodian election will be based on how successful the interference and the infiltration of the Vietnamese agents are in the Cambodian election system. Ballot rigging and voters intimidation, just to name a few.

After the UN-organised election, the Viets have assisted the CPP with some dirty tricks in the subsequent CPP-controlled elections. Some of those tricks were exposed later on. Young children were taken to a secret building where they spent most of their time ticking the CPP box on the ballot papers, and they had no idea what the papers were for. Later on, when these children grew up and were able to vote they realised what the papers were for and the secrets were out. Of course, the CPP-controlled media will always prevent such a revelation from becoming a public knowledge.

Let's see what other dirty tricks the Viets can assist Tea Banh and the CPP this time.

Vietnam, communist state, has never had any multi-party election! Why Tea Banh went to ask vietnamese for lessons? Cambodia with Hun Sen is not independent and needs youn green light before they can do anything. Hun Sen Tea Banh enjoy being slave youns and take orders from them. That win-win politics for them!

12:45 PM, The king is just a title, that's all. He's powerless. Hun Sen can have him disappeared with a flick of finger. At the same time, he can't, because that will upset the old people who still worshipped him. Also to the outside world, it's just doesn't look good. The (king) snake depleted all his venoms when he use it too many times to killed his prey.
