Singer Sok Pisey was hurt when her car overturned at 3:30 PM on 14 April 2008, along National Road No. 4, when she was traveling to a concert in Sihanoukville. The report indicated that Sok Pisey was driving a black Lexus car filled with 10 people, including her mother and niece. At a the road bent near the Samdech Ta village, Kampong Sila commune, Kampong Sila district, Koh Kong province, Sok Pisey was speeding and she overshot the bend to hit 5 sign poles. Her car flew off and it overturned 3 times. In the accident, Sok Pisey broke her left thigh bone and she also got black eyes. Among those traveling in her car, both her grandmothers, her mother, and her niece died in the accident, and 5 were seriously injured. Currently, Sok Pisey is hospitalized at the Calmette hospital, and her condition has improved after intensive care. Sok Pisey has regained her conscience, and she now smiles to her visitors.

It is very sad to see so many careless, inconsiderate and inexperienced car drivers and motorcycle riders on the roads. They have no clue of what the basic driving protocol of "mirror, signal, maneuver" really means, and the traffic signs and lights have no meaning to them. The main culprits are usually holders of the state, police and military license plates.
Rich people in the chopper fare no better. Quite recently, Kit Meng's chopper landed on a Sihanoukville beach near a seaside restaurant and the rotor blasted sands all over customers. His chopper and the passengers flew away without a word of apology. All the angry diners could wish for was the chopper would crash into the sea.
I would not mind giving Aun Sras Pisey a private driving lesson. I don't have much money like Ta Ta, but my skillful maneuver and tender touch would guarantee her a complete and insatiable satisfaction! In Cambodia many people drive the car with the passengers without seat belt even the car equips with seat belt. If these victims put on seat belts, they will save their lives. When the car turns over, who has no seat belt on will eject from the car. The car will crash over them. Driving a car every day on the road to work in the big city like Washington DC is very dangerous. People drive very crazy because of the traffic and zig zag roadway. If you're not an experience driver, be careful. When the speed sign shows 25 mph or 40kmh, you can only drive about 10 miles over 25 mph sign. If you do more than the 10, you ask for trouble. This is my experience driving for 27 years. Don't tail gate people. When the front car break, you ask for trouble too. Don't look at mini-skirt girl along the roadside; you will hit the front car or object for sure.
I hope she will be fine and she will learn from her mistake the rest of her life. She now has no one to call "Grandma, Mom, and niece"anymore. This is a big lost.

Speed limit should be enforced in Cambodia, or drivers should be aware of the speed they are doing. The car was obviously overweight.

1. Most drivers have no experience.
2. The cows and dogs have the right of way too.
3. The wedding or funeral ceremonies have the right of way to occupy the road also. One day someone will drive thru make-shift wedding or funeral tents.
4. Motorcycles, bikes, cow carts, and left hand cars are using the road too.

By observing closely at the photograph of the road and there seem to be a lot of gravel and sand on the road! This accident can be a lot worse if the element of water from the rain combine with the sand and gravel!
This woman driver didn't even have a chance to gain control of the car because of her fast moving speed around the curve and her car went into acceleration skid and she lost control of her car but even if she lost control of the car and she can still manage to gain control of the car by steering the car in straight direction and pump the brake lightly to slow down.
Oh well! Poor judgment and lack of experience and the result is deadly!
