PHNOM PENH — A Japanese commercial bank, MARUHAN Japan Bank, was launched Thursday in Cambodia, a move its chairman said will help attract investment from Japanese companies to Cambodia.
At the launch, Han Chang-woo said, “It is the first Japanese commercial bank to come to the Kingdom of Cambodia, a country that has captured the world’s imagination.” He said the establishment of the bank was a result from last year’s visit of Prime Minister Hun Sen to Japan during which he had signed an agreement on the protection and promotion of investment between the two countries.
