The King reigns but does not govern. He (and his Parents) must not be involved in politics or be involved in any State affairs, or any political, governmental or state problems.

Both our August, Great and Valorous King and our reigning King have not been able to fulfill their constitutional duties well yet.
If they “must not be involved in politics or be involved in any State affairs, or any political, governmental or state problems” as our first King has claimed, which many people have disagreed all along, could he not have acted and can the reigning monarch act more forcefully to “protect rights and freedoms for all citizens” through the courts of law, ensure the independence of the judiciary through the Supreme Council of the Magistracy which the reigning King chairs, and ensure the proper workings of public authorities through the government itself?
These are amnong the reigning King's duties as stipulated respectively under Articles 132, 9 and 8 of our Constitution.
Human rights freedoms and judicial independence are not politics or State affairs, or political or state problems. The proper functioning of public authorities may be governmental problem, but all are the affairs and problems ordinary people are facing and coping with everyday.

The King shall exercise his rights at least as a member of Cambodian society. He can champion rights and justice campaign for his Kaun Chao.
