Illinois senator Barack Obama wants to change the world. But first he wants to change the country. And to do that, he wants to become the first African-American president in the White House.
“We will win this nomination,” he told supporters recently. “You and I together will change this country, and we will change the world.”
Cambodian voters in America and politicians in Cambodia are watching to see what will happen.
Both Obama and New York senator Hillary Clinton have a chance at the presidency “because of the crisis in the US that President [George W.] Bush seriously generated,” said Chanly Kuch, a Cambodian voter who lives in Maryland.
Opposition leader Sam Rainsy called Obama a new man with modern ideas. American voters do not have racial discrimination, he said.
Cambodian People’s Party lawmaker Cheam Yiep said Cambodia was watching the election closely.
Obama could prove popular because of his centrist approach, said Koul Panha, executive director of the Committee for Free and Fair Elections, in Cambodia.
“I think it’s good to focus closely and pay attention to what candidates raise and how to solve the issues, [and] the capacity, the ideals of the candidate, rather than focusing on where a person is from,” he said, adding that Obama was “brave.”

So true; that is why we should get some Yuon from Hanoi to run in the election. That is the only way to beat the CPP. The monkeys from US, Canda, Australia, and France will never be good enough to do it.
I am very pleased to see that Cambodian lawmakers are interested with election of USA in which they have all approved Obama as a popular Presidency candidate for his centralised policies.
Cambodia has experienced all the time with extreme left or extreme right. Example Hun Sen and his CPP has changed a U turn from extreme left to Extreme right. Cambodian social and eeconomic development can be succeeded unless all their lawsmakers have truely understood what is left and what is right. In reality, Cambodian Buddhist have already promoted and have already appealled to all lawsmakers from many generations to work on the middle path. But there haven't have any generation of lawsmakers have done that. Everyone knew by heart about Middle path bu cannot apply that middle path into practice even the all buddhist leaders in all temples around the country. Indeed this middle path is a very simple practice. It need every lawsmaker to understand how to distribute the wealth of the Nation fairly to all their citizen. They need to use taxation as a mechanist to distribute these wealths to make sure that every citizen can live with harmony and prosperity by not letting anyone behind in each village, each county, each city and the whole Nation by not discriminating race and religion. KI-Media ought to put a stop on this so-called self-proclaimed "Free-thinker" the sore-loser Viet slave @4:17 AM that tries to be the first to shit all over KI-Media on every article thus published...
Go home to Hanoi you Free-thinker for Viet Slave!!!
We know who you ARE NOW!!!
Moderation is the best way to a happier future. Obama might well be the next U.S president like it or not. I also think he is the best of the threes to run the country. If the U.S is strong, the world is strong. The world needs to the U.S for the lead country. Can you imagine Russia or China is the lead country in the world?
vote john McCain!
we vote John Mccain
The United States and the rest of the world simply cannot afford to have a nigger president. Period!
I understand that McCain has always been critical to Hun Sen government. But what can he do when he is the President of the USA? We all should know that the US won't invade Cambodia and topple Hun Sen regime for some unjustice toward the opposition party. Just look at how frustrated Bush is with Burma. Yet the US have no plan to invade Burma where hundreds of thousands are dying.
Too much grip on Hun Sen regime only makes CAmbodia lean heavily onto the Chinese, which is not good.
Obama has the global appealing. His experiences are shared by many people of different cultures and colors. He has great integrity and strong and unwavering convictions. He can be a great leader of the US and the world. His peace approach shows his humility and peace loving character.
Areak Prey,
Maybe you have lived in a foreign country too long. The policy that the Hun Sen government has used is only for him to cling onto his power. I don't think it is an extreme right or extreme left. If you want to be clear, first define what kind of policies are called right wing and which are called left. Then compare them to the ones Hun Sen is using. I think Hun Sen's policy is no right nor left but neo-dictatorship style because i believe left or right approach aims to make their people's lives better, but Hun Sen's approach is to make him stronger.
To 1:02pm,
Because of your stupid comment, i decided to post mine. This is my advice, before you hate or criticize someone, you should look at your past and present first so that you don't become a hypocrit freak.
Do you know where you are and how did you get to there? Who fought for desegregation so that latter immigrants get to enjoy a more freedom-full life?
just another human being.
Dear Poster 2:16AM,
I don't mind to describe for you why I said Hun Sen and his CPP has changed from extreme left to extreme Right?
From 1979-1993,extreme left.
-CPP has controled Cambodia by one single party.
-They have made everyone poor by banning all citizen their freedom to participate in the economy. All economy was planned by their central planning.
-All their government officials have lived better lifestyle than any other ordinary citizen.
-CPP was under influence of vietnam, Soviet and all communist countries.
-Only CPP activist are the lawsmakers of the state. Other professionals cannot contribute any ideas for the country development.
-They make country poor and their citizen with hard lives.
-Dictatorship. No challege to the leadership.
From 1993-now, CPP have taken extreme right.
-Their CPP families members have stolen all country assets and resources for their own.
-They continue to land grab people lands.
-They don't care about National education, health, wellfare of the poor because they care only their own children.
-They banned all good business to other groups.
-They gave aways lands, properties to their families member as concession.
-They pay everyone with a meagre salaries in which everyone cannot live with pride and prestige.
-They don't ask their business friends to pay tax at all.
Usually all extreme right governments will never care about taxation. They wants their friends to build privated schools, hospital, bridges, roads etc.. and etc.. and allow their friends to charge road toll, and fee. They wanted to divise the people into three classes.
1- Upper classe ( their families members).
2- Middle classes. For those who can motivate themselve and can save monies to free themselve.
3-Working classe. They want to have this classe to work in the factories, household etc..
THey have tricked all citizen during their election campaign that, the state shouldn't collect to much tax. It is a freedom to keep your own monies. What happen, if they collect taxes, their friends have to pay the most taxes because they earn more monies.
In any western countries, most government who have been elected are mostly either central left or central right. They have a gradually taxation system.
Without income tax, no country in the world can develop their country at all. Areak Prey
I believe the people do understand what's good and what's bad,What's good for the people of the US and for the world. This is not about black and white,Let's people choose who's going to be the president of United State.
Again, we cannot allow a nigger (or a bitch, of course, Hilary Clinton)to be the president of the United States.
In the past, what did the NAACP or equivalent organizations do for me? Absolutely NOTHING!
Only the fucking gorillas who are residing in the cockroach-infested ghetto neighborhoods are the sole benefactors from the nigger leadership.
Are you vietcong Mr.3:49PM?
