Part 2 of the never-ending battle: Where King-Father duked it out with the dead Viscount-only Sirik Matak

Translated from French by Luc Sâr

History
“Sirik Matak”
By N. Sihanouk

1- Some “great” journalists and (false) Western historians wrote that Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak, through his princely rank within the Khmer Royal Family, had at least as much right “as I (Norodom Sihanouk) do to the (claim) of the Throne of Cambodia,” that was why he was jealous of me and he reacted against me” by associating himself with Lon Nol in the 18 March 1970 Putsch.

2- In reality, Sirik Matak did not have the same princely rank as I (N. Sihanouk) did. According to the then-current rule for the Khmer Monarchy prior to “my reforms” during the years of 1941 to 1969, H.R.H. Sirik Matak only had the rank of “Viscount” –sic!– whereas Norodom Sihanouk (before being King) had the rank of “Duke” (sic!), (which was) ahead of Counts (Neak Ang Mchas) and Viscounts (Neak Ang).

The French Protectorate was only “interested” in “Princes taing Krom -> Krom Preah, Krom Luong, Krom Khun” and “Dukes” (Preah Ang Mchas) to choose somebody to take over the Khmer Throne.

3- (With) N. Sihanouk becoming King of Cambodia, “Prince” Sisowath Sirik Matak was among my “favorites.” I chose him to accompany me to Paris, to Rome (Italy), etc… I nominated him to positions he wanted to occupy.

4- One day before the entering into Phnom Penh of the Pol Pot Khmer Rouge, Sirik Matak publicly confessed that he committed a very serious mistake: he did not want an independent Cambodia, but a Cambodia lackey (he did not pronounce the world “lackey”) of the USA. (It was the reason why he (Sirik Matak) abandoned me to stay with the great, pro-US Imperialism Lon Nol).

King Sihanouk never writes anything about his reckless mistakes that cause immeasurable destruction to his people and country. He only mentions someone's mistakes but not his.

Here is a little piece of what King Sihanouk wrote in his book WAR AND HOPE about the 1970 coup, page 31:"The underestimation by Nixon, Lon Nol, and Sirimatak of Sihanouk. Their anti-Sihanouk coup March, 1970, was motivated by the ironclad belief that Norodom Sihanouk had become extremely unpopular with his countrymen. . .."

The fact of matter was that Sihanouk could not solve the problems with the Vietcong. He shifted the total responsibility to Lon Nol who was his right-hand man to deal with Vietcong for him. This flip-flop King is now completely retarded; alot of monkeys fuck his brains perhaps!

. . .and he might be mistakenly thinking that the younger generations
would wholeheartedly believe what he wrote. Not so, King, Cambodian people now are not like those in your era, living like frogs in the well any more. It's too late for you or offspring to consider us that way.

I think Sihanouk should speed up his way to follow Lauk Ta Lon Nol and Sirik Matak if he wants to take revenge these two late leaders. If he goes to slow, the two later will not wait for him and they will have to reborn again.

If you are interested to have Cambodians have your name in their heart after you go away.. please stop bitting the people who want to make you out of troubles from 1970 to 1975 that you let hyenas using Cambodia as their save haven from U.S bombs. Now these hyenas(vietcongs)are devouring Cambodia in a nice gratitude way.
please sdach Ta stop looking yourself at the palace mirror, you should use this mirror to see how 90%of poor Khmer and Khmer Krom people live instead of using for yourself.
I'm a young generation,I don't have a lot of education but I like to read the country history from 1945-1979 that why I know about you
clearly.

I don't know why Sihanouk keeps claiming "victory" when what has happened did not in anyway guarantee the longevity of his monarchy.

Let see, during Lon Nol, he was homeless, regardless of his previous popularity, a good number of people supported "18 Mars 1970" and denounce monarchy; during Khmer Rouge, whom he supported with the thinking that he could outsmart them, he was house-arrested instead; and now, the monarchy is merely a tool for Hun Sen. Are these issues the reason why he keeps going after the ghosts???

by the way, Siri Matak was 10 times more courageous as a man than our 'mercury' king...

Hi Sihanouk, We are new generation living in Cambodia today. We know who you are and what you did to us. We do not want your hisotries repeat it again and again. If we talk about your popularity among khmer peoples today, is just about 10% of the whole Cambodia populatoin will support you. So your name in Cambodia today is just asymbols on paper, but in reality you are not value any more in a mong Cambodian peoples.

Wrong, Ah Khmer-Yuon is not Khmer but Khmer enemy, or rather Indochinese enemy. They have yet to pay back their debt for destroying Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, and they are not getting away with anything. That much is for certain.

Sisowath Sirimatak's last letter:

Phnom Penh 12 April 1975

Dear Excellency and Friend,

I thank you very sincerely for your letter and for your offer to transport me towards freedom. I cannot, alas, leave in such a cowardly fashion. As for you, and in particular for your great country, I never believed for a moment that you would have this sentiment of abandoning a people which has chosen liberty. You have refused us your protection, and we can do nothing about it.

You leave, and my wish is that you and your country will find happiness under this sky. But, mark it well, that if I shall die here on the spot and in my country that I love, it is too bad, because we all are born and must die (one day). I have only committed this mistake of believing in you the Americans.

Please accept, Excellency and dear friend, my faithful and friendly sentiments.

So, what is your take on the letter, Dr Lao?

Anonymous said...

Sihanouk said,"In reality, Sirik Matak did not have the same princely rank as I (N. Sihanouk) did."

Right, princely imbecile of Cambod imbecile princes.

Anonymous said...

As Dr. Lao doesn't answer to your question, I will: the content of the letter means that Sisowath Sirimatak chose to defend his people and country from a traitorous King who allowed Vietcong to use the Cambodia territory as their safe heaven from the US bombardment. It was King Sihanouk who created all the danger for Lon Nol and Sirimatak to deal with. Before the 1970 coup took place, the Queen Mother and Lon Nol sent to envoys to meet and ask Sihanout for his brilliant decision on the matter, but Sihanouk's decision was not brilliant: he refused to meet those envoys and chased them back. Further more, Sihanouk denounced Lon Nol and condemed Sirimatak for everything, forgetting that he was the one created all the mess. . . .Any way Sirimatak is seen to be more courageous and patriotic than Sihanouk.

-When you are good, you are good and you don't need to loudly claim that you are good. But if you are bad, you might reverse the situation for a short while but not forever : la verite est la verite. So don't worry, take it easy, better be good and happy!.
Sincerely I feel so frustated when my own people are insulting each others in front of the nowaday Ho Chi Minh representatives. I feel sorry for the new young Khmer generations. Please say something positive for the benefit of our bellow country. Being rude only makes things get worse. " KINDNESS IS MORE INPORTANT THAN WISDOM, AND THE RECOGNITION OF THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM."
Please practice compassion.

We can and will say a lot things positive if your King stop blaming someone, and it'll be gooder if he just shut up!

this old dog will never stop barking until he dies. He killed so many cambodian people during his reign. It was his false even the rise of the Khmer rouge, the support of viet cong, and present situation in cambodia. Now he is serving Hun sen and Youn interest. I wish he shut up. He has been fooling innocent Khmer farmers who love him and worship like god. You know Khmer people love thier king but not today some us finally know the truth nature of this evil and blood thirst king. I would and will not stand up the cambodian national anthem because of the meaningless lyrics praising and glorifying this evil.

So far, I have seen only the Cambodian Republican point of views about former King Sihanouk. This is not fair. I am 70 years old Cambodian American.I have seen all. I have seen him making both mistakes and goods for Cambodia. The mistake was his association of convenient with the Khmer Rouge resulting in 2 millions Cambodian killed. But this mistake was really Lon Nol's and mainly the American faults for draguing Cambodia into the war in Vietnam. The glorious Sihanouk's deed was his fight for indepenednce from France in 1953 almost 1 year before the France's defeat in Dien Bien Phu. Without Sihanouk succes in the fight for independence, I would say only Ho Chi Minh could claim himself to be the hero of indenpence of Cambodia and Vietnam. Think about it.

You don't need to tell everyone how old you are. We can tell your age by just read your comment. Let me tell you that some mistakes are tolerable, but mistakes that caused a great destruction to the Khmer people and the nation is not. A brave leader will admit his mistakes; a coward like your King Sihanouk will never.

You don't need to tell everyone how old you are. And I don't mean to be rude to you. Me too, I'm not a kid. We can tell your age by just read your comment. ...according to your comment saying that the mistakes were Lon Nol's, I think you are not old enough to know right from wrong yet. Never try to shift the blame to someone else while your King was and is the one who commit and still commit more mistakes. Your coward King always runs out of the country whenever the country falls in dager caused by him. He likes to take the credit while someone else does the hard work, such the credit of receiving an independence in 1953.

4:49&5:22 I am applause your comment ,you both
So pleasant, to me for the ages I would keep it a side ,I don’t want
To discriminate people by their age , but that uncle should not be a
A conspirer or a history twister ,but one point that I want to ask that old man
Is (while Sihaknouk tell InTam,Lon Nol ,ChengHeng to do the coup against him
Those General, Excellency and Marshall Lon NoL didn’t agree with that proposal,
But for reason of respecting ,country and the force from Sihaknuk ,those respecting
Heroes was agreed with the tears and sad faces after they leave the meeting.
Why Sihaknuk stab his supporters from the back? Why he go to join Vietcong and
Khmer rouge in retaliate and killed them all, with out them and more hero, heroine
SIHAKNUK DID NOT HAVE that independence ‘s day( He was not do that alone)
Now all of them leaving for the peaceful place ,except him self and
Still not satisfaction his power greedy now he goes to kiss ass Hun Sen
Keep forgetting about his poor dirt Cambodian and Viet oppressor
What a coward animal Sihaknuk have been doing to my poor Cambodian ?
Go down the king of ignorance! The king of Cambodia treason!

4:23 AM,

Putting Sihanouk's successes and failures aside, many people are still troubled by his incessant rants on the dead Lon Nolians. What points is he trying to make??? If you tolerate his mistakes and believe he should be fairly treated, tell him to do the same for the dead men. For me, perhaps those Lon Nonlians mistakes are, like Sri Matak's statement, to trust America. Sihanouk's biggest failure was to fail to unite Cambodians and denounce Pol Pot after April 1975. Both he and Lon Nol got worked up by opposite major powers, so he should let the souls of those dead men rest in peace, as well as his own living one!

If it weren't for Ho Chi Minh, there wouldn't be such thing a Cambodia Indepence, 4:23. Stop destroying Khmer history by twisting the truth.

Ho almost got the status of a hero who gained independence for Cambodia, had it not been a Pol Pot. Sihanouk got it from the French and almost lost it to Ho. Pol Pot, yes, the heineous maniac, did keep Ho at bay. Unfortunately, Ho still got the upperhand becuase of his Khmer lackeys - the current "independent" Kampucheans of the "Greater Indochina Federation."
