(BangkokPost.com) - Pongthep Thepkanchana, spokesman of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, dismissed accusation that Mr Thaksin is behind a so-called plan to trade off land below Phreah Vihear for oil and gas concession.
The government has denied there is any such plan, and has vowed never to yield "one square inch" of Thai border territory to Cambodia, especially around the Cambodian temple.
Mr Pongthep said the disputes over the Phreah Vihear has been unsettled a long time ago.
He insisted that the Thai government will have to protect the benefit of the country, and such accusations are not true.
He refused to answer questions about Mr Thaksin's reported plan to build a casino and entertainment complex on the main island off the Cambodian province of Koh Kong, just south of Trat, saying he knows nothing about it.
Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama, a former Thaksin spokesman, addressed roughly the same conspiracy theory, and denied that the project to construct Thai Route No 48 project including four bridges in the south of Trat province near Koh Kong was developed for the benefit of Mr Thaksin.
Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Banh on Friday confirmed that Mr Thaksin may be on the verge of an agreement to develop the island Koh Kong, off the west coast of the province of the same name.
The road, costing one billion baht, was supposedly built to facilitate the transport of goods from Cambodia to Laem Chabang port in Chon Buri, passing through Trat.
Mr Noppadon told reporters he believes Mr Thaksin will not be able to start a Cambodian business until authorities release 50 to 60 billion baht ordered frozen by the military-appointed committee set up to investigate alleged corruption charges.

I wish the Thai learn how to say the Khmer name very clearly. It is called Ream Chhbang. In Thai Laem Chabang?
actually the thai can say the khmer's strong "R" sound like the khmer can. it's the laos that doesn't have the "R" sound in their language. so "ream" becomes "laem", the khmer name "loung prabang or your royal highness, the big brother in khmer language becomes "loung phabang" etc... note that the lao or liev in khmer does not have the "r" sound in their native language, but khmer and thai do. so "lam liev is called after the lao for "ram liev" or the dance of the lao people in khmer. on the same note, the japanese do not have the "l" sound, so their "l" sound becomes the "r" sound. isn't it interest to learn about the languages of the world. for example, japanese say "i love you" as "i rove you". interesting, huh!
actually, "ream chhbang" and "loung prabang" are both mean the same thing in khmer. loung = royal, prabang = preah bong or preah bang, meaning a royal title for older sibling, ream chhbang = older sibling in the royal language of cambodia. interest the similarity, despite a slide difference in pronunciation of the khmer, thai and lao languages.
Cambodia must fight for any disputed border areas that they encroached. We must not let them bully us with no regard for our sovereignty.

Siamese GV is actually playing dummy and smart mixed motion with Khmer(Hun Sen GV). What ever The Siamese thieves do they beleive it's a right time to do so. I personally not suppport Hun Sen GV, but what I beleive is, if the northern thieves continue to behave this way the souther thieves won't be able to tolerated any longer. Because Siam is their next step to feed and support their Indochina plane.

I agree with 12:28AM. I can speak Thai fluently. Leam Chabang is really Ream Chhbang a beautiful khmer name for sea port until 1907 when the French treaty gave Trat province to Thailand in exchange for Battambang and Siem Reap. We should rename our city of Ream in Kompot province as Ream Chhbang Song Sek (revenge or reminding for our lost port).
When two one eye people count-argument for this reason it's scary. Hun Sen GV's is trusworthy Government especially with Siamese GV; he will do what he could to please his boss, and waiting to backing up. You should beter stop claiming overlap areas what ever you said Siam befor it's to late! theives.
