KI-Media has learned that Mr. Dam Sith, Editor of the opposition newspaper Moneakseka Khmer, was arrested in the morning of Sunday 08 June 2008, in Phnom Penh.
Mr. Dam Sith is also a candidate of the opposition Sam Rainsy Party for the city of Phnom Penh.
On Thursday 05 June, Mr. Dam Sith was summoned by the Phnom Penh Municipal court to clarify on a lawsuit brought against him by Hor Nam Hong for publishing an article quoting opposition leader Sam Rainsy discussing about Cambodian ministers who were former members of the Khmer Rouge regime. The Cambodian Club of Journalists (CCJ) called on Hor Nam Hong to withdraw this lawsuit, as “a sentence against a newspaper which cited a MP or a politician would be an attack on the rights of journalists.”

Untill the defamation law writen by UN foreign lawyers in the UNTAC criminal law is changed, defamation legally can be prosecuted under that code, and because it's crimial, they can arrest you. It is of course used as a legal tool to get rid of your political or business rivals.

Just remember that when the Vietcong withdrew their troop from Cambodia is that they weren't afraid of the resistance fighters and it because they were afraid of the whole Cambodian population! Even the hardcore CPP leaders said in the late 1980 to the Vietcong leaders that at this time Cambodian people were grateful of the Vietcong liberation and the CPP also said that they don't know about the future if the Vietcong continue their occupation of Cambodia! This is clearly a warning to the Vietcong leaders! And so afterward the Vietcong begin to withdraw their troop from Cambodia! Ahahhahha

Come on dude, if you are not serious about democracy, just say so. I am not for it at this moment, later on, yes. You can't have law-maker or politician own the media. As for the constitution, Media mean non political affiliated media, and they supposed to be balance and impartial. Had Ah Dam Sith followed this guide line, he wouldn't be in this mess right now.
