Don't even think about reclaiming Preah Vihear back from Cambodia

No chance to claim temple

Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama has ruled out any move to try to reclaim sovereignty over the Hindu temple of Preah Vihear. That right, he said yesterday, was lost 30 years ago.

Noppadon was dismissing calls by the Democrat Party to lay claim to the temple before Cambodia sought World Heritage listing.

He said the International Court of Justice ruled in 1962 that the temple belonged to Cambodia. It allowed Thailand to refile its claim within 10 years if it found some new evidence. There is no appeal procedure.

Democrat deputy leader Alongkorn Pollabutr had called for Thailand to oppose Cambodia's plan to list the temple as a United Nations' World Heritage site. He rejected joint management of the temple and urged a delay to the listing decision.

"Khun Alongkorn has poor knowledge of the matter since it is a legal technicality. He should not raise the point to confuse society," said Noppadon, a highly regarded lawyer who acted as a representative of Thaksin Shinawatra when he was in exile.

there shouldn't even be any disputed on this temple. but it is true that the thai is enchoarching on the khmer territories everyday.
they come in to village and terrorize villagers to move out in side of our own land. if we were smart our government can just sent a batch of army to wait untill they are int the khmer soil then just open fire on all of them.. kill them all then internation communities will not say a thing cuz they were on khmer land and we shot them we are right.

The temple belongs to Khmer people, not Cambodia. Thus, there should be a joint development between Khmers on both side of the fence. Just because Khmer people living on the other side, it does not mean they've wavered their right to the temple.

Lucky enough that Cambodia did not try to reclaim Bangkok back. All Thailand belongs to Cambodia any way. 50% of the Thai national are Khmer and they could turn against the Thai government and move back to Cambodia...which mean including all the land...

thank god, finally, there is someone in thailand who knows what he is talking about. thank you.

this goes to show, not just in thailand but in cambodia or the world for that matter, that it often takes an educated person to know right from wrong. god would forbid the general public to have so much saying in political action, otherwise, the world will never have peace. it takes a skillful politician and definitely one that can understand world's view to see the justice that's always there in the first place. thank you for being reasonable and fair to cambodia. god bless cambodia.
