The government will spend $16.7 million for the July general election for 8.1 million voters, i.e. $2.06 per voter, the National Election Committee (NEC) announced.
In 2003, $1.76 was spent per voter, $2.90 in 1998 and $45 in 1993.
For the 2007 commune election, $1.60 was spent per voter, whereas this number was $2.90 in 2002. For this last election, the government had spent $15.6 million.
The amount spent varies depending on the material that need to be purchased and the pay given to NEC officials, said Tep Nytha, NEC secretary-general.

15 millions is only a small part of it if we considered the suffering and the lost of lifes that was caused by Ah desperate Scam Rainxy for his own political gain over the decades.
