Thai Cabinet agreed on Tuesday to change the wording in its resolution on Preah Vihear Temple they endorsed last week to tone down public criticism, a Cabinet source said.

The government is due today to be grilled by the opposition over their endorsement of Cambodia's bid to list the Preah Vihear Temple as Unesco World Heritage Site. Preah Vihear will be high on the agenda of today's no censure debate.

The source said in the Cabinet will change the wording in the resolution from "map" of the Preah Vihear territory to "diagram."

They also asked the foreign ministry to add into the Thai-Cambodia Joint Communique the exact size of the Preah Vihear Temple to drive in the point that the area proposed to Unesco is not part of the disputed territory.

The government of Samak Sundaravej consistently defended its decision to endorsed Cambodia's new map to Unesco over the temple's territory because it not cover the 4.6 square kilometre overlapping areas with Thailand.

Phnom Penh's former map sparked protest from Thailand as it included the overlapping areas. Therefore it re-submitted the map.

However Samak government's endorsement of the new map drew strong criticism from the public particularly protesters who lay siege the Government House.

The map was made public late last week by Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama, who claimed to have defended Thailand's sovereignty by preventing Cambodia from including the 4.6 square kilometre in the map to Unesco.

But in spite of revealing of the map, public protest continue amid a growing call for Noppadon's resignation.

Critics said the government should apply jointly with Cambodia because a significant portion of the Preah Vihear is situated on the Thai side of the border.

The proposal to rewrite the resolution was proposed by Agriculture Minister Somsak Prissanananthakul.

Somsak said on Tuesday the Cabinet would rewrite the Cabinet resolution over Preah Vihear to clearly state that the area that Cambodia is listing as a World Heritage site would not cover the overlapping area claimed by both sides.

"We must rewrite it to make it clear to prevent any problems in the future. We ask that the Cabinet resolution be rewritten and we will review it before it is printed,'' Somsak said.

The Hindu temple has been the subject of conflict between Thailand and Cambodia since last year when Bangkok opposed Phnom Penh's application to annex 4.6 square kilometres of overlapping area claimed by both sides. The dispute was settled after Cambodia agreed last month to accept that only the temple belonged to Cambodia.

Si Sa Ket people have been protesting since June 22 accusing the Cabinet of endorsing Cambodian sovereignty over the temple after Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama signed to support Cambodia's proposal to apply for it to become a world heritage site.

Be careful. The change of Wording by the Thais is Gaining by the Thais.

What was agreed in writing and by signing is legal binding.

Cambodia should take Thailand to the International Court of Justice again. and this time we must claim for more territory stolen by Thais.

Thais of Khmer Bloods! you need to do something for your motherland, Cambodia. You can stand up, and BE KHMERS against the Thais. You can control the territory of your own. BE KHMERS and KISS KHMER Land.

Khmers will never be extinct, desptie the fact that the Vietnamese and Thais want Khmers to be extinct.

It is time to take your rival policy.

We think we need to resolve our standoff on the disputed zone militarily.

Do you think the Khmer military is ready for this (or this is too much for the Cambodia) to handle?

For sure ,we have to stand up and unite to protect and improve what belongs to us. Otherwise, who else besides Khmers would do.

Gentleman

Owning the Preah Vihear temple has never been out of Thai government's agenda even though thailand lost International court to Cambodia in 1962, led by our former king and compatriot experts.

At any time, Thailand wants her identity of which moulded by Khmer culture. Angkor wat is admired so much by international world, so is Thailand even Thai built a miniture of Angkor and claims it as their own. Language is also originated from Khmer.

So please be cautious at all time that Thailand has never given up of that dream. Artifects has been destroyed and sold to Thailand for number of years since I was young living in POI PET.

Khmers can no longer sell land and our soul to our neighbours any longer. Together we can defend our bloods and our glorous culture.

In 1976-77,DK preached poor inhabitants living along Khmer-Siam temporary borderline from Phoum Laem, komrieng, kok khposs(kok soung) all the way to Preah Vihear that, Aos touk kom oi la:an chab trei ba:an kom la:ok teuk psycho warfre tacts.

DK supported Red poor Thais with armements and fund while DK inspected and reclaimed borderline markers to where they were originally planted in 1907.

Khek Pen(Su)- Mitt San, Regional V commander-Rin Noeuv Commander of Tombon 3-4 Division headed this mission.

Several secretive incursions and fronyts broke out in early 1977 along this border.

Territories once were taken by Siam from pst WWII: Phoum Daung,Chomkar kor,Russei Srok, Samit,Beung Chhnang-laem included the sovereign of Preah Vihear etc... were reclaimed during DK.

Black clad Thai fierce forces were hit hard in one of the round the clock battles in Chomkar Kor and Phoum Daung duirng this time of the year up to Pha:jum Ben time.

Because of the secretive wars and losses, Siam had never gave up moment to humiliate Khmers all alike whether in Khmer country or in Siam.

In retrospect since 1932 Siam prohibited and suppressed Khmer literacy learning or teaching in the questionable areas, Highland.

Lessons shall be noted as Siam is refrained to take Khmers in open war which will divide its fragile coalesced administrative in old Khmer provinces of the highland.Siam used same tact as DK did to dispirit Khmers under its control.

Khuang Abhaiyavong was Khmer descent,Prem was Khmer descent, so is the junta leader. These would whisper to Khmer leaders ears that they were Khmer too to soften Cambodia politics. Hun Sen was fooled by the junta leader in his swift visit after coup and spoke Khmer to Hun Sen.Yet Hun Sen had no clue that the Junta leader was belittled him and his mighty regime.

This tact also reinforce Siam defunct monarchy from suicide. Due to treaties validity with Napoleonic regime and Britain plus Japan over dispute of Khmer old territories, thus the progressive Siameses could not abolish monarchy for the sovereignty and legitimacy of land rule.
Khmers need to keep emotion in check and avoid speaking like a drunk in term of Siam secret plans.

Good luck to all huffs and puffs politics here.

Agree!
Cambodia should not do anything, why because Cambodia have never invaded Thailand. International court is the justice. I do agree with your common,"Cambodia should take Thailand to the International Court of Justice again". Cambodia MUST NOT sign anything with Thailand in this matter. Or if Cambodia likes to play as the loser, go ahead sign it. Then Khmer peopel has to remove all these Khmer Leaders, because they are NOT KHMER's Nation. Remove them out.

So where are all Hun Sen gangsters doing? They seem to be so quiet. No protest or show their muscle to Thaicong. Why are they so chicken? They can only intimidate their own people, but not the outsider.

We need a regime change in order to fight and gain respect from Vietcong and Thaicong. Otherwise our border will be given away for free by Ah Kwak Hun Sen and Ah Kbort Sihanouk.

I 'd like to tell you the real story behind this stuff.

Everything is all political move. There are a lot of hidden agenda.

Please believe the govenrnment of Cambodia and Thailand who try to make peace for this deserved to be list as world heritage at UNESCO.

The story started from PAD, the gangster led by some Thai people who try to topple the thai government.

And they just pick whatever issue that can create the nationalist feeling among Thai, and they found the good issue, Prea Vihear.

In fact, the outcome from the agreement under works of many people of the two govenments create win-win situation to the both parties.

And this will lead to the success of the temple to be listed as world heritage in time during next month.

Otherwise, this can't be settle, and lose-lose situation will happen.

Siam don't put too much trust on your military hardware, a war against us and Bangkok will become the next Baghdad. The only difference is there will be no Siam faction left to fight back.

what's wrong with this picture? their true color finally came out in plain sight, like their ugly naked body. for example, there are their protesters near preah vihear temple who demand that cambodia gives back its preah vihear temple to thailand. yeah, right!!! don't be alarmed cambodia, law and many more laws and justice will prevail in no time; just let ah/mee siem vent their frustration like a child in tantrum... we, khmer people, know that international laws and justice of the 1962 ruling still prevails at unesco. god bless cambodia and our beautiful khmer people.

Cambodia must not take the temple from the people who built it.

Right 4:17AM, and the slaves who were captured by Khmer King Suryavarman II to build Preah Viheah where are they?

Oh Yea, the Jews built the Pyramid owned Pyramid. Hah hah..

the Siamese tried to go to court again but they couldnt. By international court law, after 10 years from the court date that they lost in 1962, they are not allow to revise it. they can only do within 10 years. and it has been 40 + years. We khmers don't need to go to court again, if we do it is a way to give the siamese thieves a second chance to steal our Preah Vihear.
