[Thai] Democrats rap Cambodian foreign minister

The Democrat Party on Saturday hit back at remarks by Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, who accused "some Thai politicians" of turning the Preah Vihear temple issue against the otherwise warm ties between the two neighbouring countries.

M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, deputy secretary-general of Democrat Party, a former deputy foreign minister and now serving as the Democrats' shadow foreign minister, said his party was not happy after "an important person in Thailand's neighbouring country" expressed negative views on politics in Thailand.

It was understood that the Cambodian foreign minister was criticising the opposition for bringing the temple issue to parliament this week - specifically the Democrats.

"The Democrat Party reaffirms its stance which benefits every party," said the Democrat's statement.

"The party realises historical, architectural, cultural and religious significances, and thinks it is most appropriate to register Preah Vihear. But the registration must be carried out with proper principle and in line with existing atmosphere."

The shadow minister said his Democrat Party attached utmost importance on "warm relations and good cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia, but said that relations must be based on mutual benefits, understanding and a determination not to take advantage of each other".

It is not only the Democrat Party which is worried about what the Thai government had done on Preah Vihear, the statement said. Senators, journalists, lawyers, academics and representatives of the wider community are also unhappy.

The Administrative Court issued an injunction on Saturday ordering a temporary halt in carrying out further activities related to the Thai cabinet's endorsement of the Cambodian map of Preah Vihear.

Foreign Minister Hor Namhong on Friday accused Thai opposition politicians of exploiting the cross-border dispute to advance their own domestic political agenda. He warned that they might endanger bilateral relations.

He warned that the Preah Vihear issue could "affect the very good friendship and cooperation our two countries have had so far."

of course, as a khmer person, my foreing minister was right about that, and i supported him wholeheartedly. go mr. hor nom hong.

anyway, what make you siem thieves think cambodia need your approval to list our preah vihear temple and the surrounding area in the first place? you people are obviously in contempt of the international court, and can be fined. plus, you have no case whatsoever about preah vihear and the 4.6 km2 that belongs to cambodia all along. so, there is "no future dispute" or anything along that line now or in the future. the international said it's not your and never will be. so stop having depression because that can have ill-health affect and can cause all your fragile elderly statesman to get heart attack and die early because, remember we all can only be alive once in this life time; so make use of it without trying to shorten your own life as cambodia and the international court can not help you with this case. god bless cambodia.

Sure the Thaicong Democrat Party want to reaffirm Thaicong blind ambition to benefits every Thaicong party including the Thaicong population and it is the nature of every Thaicong government to fight with Cambodian on the issue of land as if the Thaicong haven't taken enough already from Cambodian including their system of writing, their culture, and many of the Khmer provinces in Thailame today!

The Thaicong criminals have no shame and still behaving as predator because they think that they can get away with anything if they want to do to Cambodia!

I recommend a North Korean "DMZ" style between Cambodia and the Thailame to end all dispute!

11:15am, that right my fellow khmers. cambodia welcome all khmer, no matter where you may reside. so all khmers and legal foreign tourists are more than welcome to come visit preah vihear and cambodia as a whole. please remember and keep that in mind. cambodia just don't want the siem thugs who continue to disrespect the icj ruling and all the ones who have contempt of icj court and still say that preah vihear belong to the archenemy siem of the khmer people. that's all. so, if you are in the otherwise category mentioned as all khmers and legal foreign tourists, then there is nothing for you to worry about when visiting cambodia and our preah vihear temple and more. god bless you all and cambodia.
