An Islamic tribunal in Kelantan, located in the North of Malaysia, refused the divorce for Siti Aisha, a 24-year-old Cambodian woman, due to the fact that her marriage certificate to 53-year-old Malaysian MP Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh was fake.
Siti Aisha must get married first, before the judges can formally pronounce her separation from her husband. This wedding will take place in the few days to come, Mohamad Sibri Ismail – Siti Aisha’s lawyer – told the Associated Press.
Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh, who already fathered 9 children with his first wife, married Siti Aisha in Kuala Lumpur in 2003. He angered the young Cambodian woman with whom he had also two children, by taking a third wife as the Malaysian law allows.
