New York/Quebec - In one of the most controversial decisions of its eight-day meetings, UNESCO on Monday named a Hindu temple in Cambodia to the World Heritage list that has been under the cloud of a border dispute with Thailand for decades. Preah Vihear is a stunning clifftop temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva perched on the cliff that defines the Thai-Cambodian border.
Cambodia sought designation for the millennium-old temple, but Thailand has challenged the move over a border spat dating to a 1962 International Court of Justice ruling.
In a compromise in May, Cambodia agreed to redraw the inscription map, including only the temple, but the move would limit UNESCO's say over how Preah Vihear would be preserved, officials in Cambodia and Thailand have said.
Cambodia's compromise brought Thailand back on board, and the government signed a joint bid, but then withdrew its approval at the last minute in the face of massive public protests and an order by a ThaiAdministrative Court.
At the last minute, Thai Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama travelled to Canada to plead against the designation, but without success.
Thailand successfully blocked Cambodia's efforts to list Preah Vihear in both 2006 and 2007 on the grounds that the inscription map included a 4.6-square-kilometre piece of land in the temple compound that is still subject to a border dispute.

So what should we do next?

2. Start developing our belove Preah Vihea Tempe.
3. Build road access from our land (Cambodia) to the temple to ease tourist to visit the temple.
4. Sell cheap ticket to tourist who travel to visit from Cambodia side.
5. Close or can open access from Ah Siem side but double or sell at higher price the ticket cost compared to Ah Siam ticket so that the tourist will not come from Ah Siam side but in stead they will come from our side (Cambodia), travel, eat, sleep, they will spend all money in Cambodia. Fuck up Ah Siam thieves. Chayo Cambodia, Chayo Khmer
VOTE FOR MR SAM RAINSY , HE WILL REGAIN ALL THE LOSE FROM SIAM AND YOUN.
PLEASE VOTE UNCLE SAM RAINSY #9 the BRIGHT FUTURE ,
DON'T VOTE # 4 YOUN ( JOUL PENH SROK).
time to change strategy. We must look to our brother in culture, the Indian to help develop this icon. The people who are closest culturally to understanding the sacredness of this ancient heritage is not Sok Kong currently in control of Angkor, or China. Its time to reach out to the old friend Cambodia. I vote my confidence for Indian help.
yes, agree, cambodia must develop the adjacent areas with hotels, airport, concrete roadway, hospitals, etc... in other words, build a permanent khmer settlement near there to cater and service tourists to our preah vihear archaeological park.
and, cambodia, the issue is not settle as thailand still needs to respect the 1904-1907 treaty and maps and the icj verdict that said the 1904 -1907 treaty is the officially recognized map of between cambodia and siam, and not the gate or whatever that is the borderline. just look at the 1904 -1907 treaty map and everyone will see how the borderline supposed to be recognized, not anything after that date. in a way, cambodia still lost a lot of territory to the siem thugs. we must remind them to respect the 1904 -1907 map only because again their argument never make sense as shown once too many already. again, without the 1904 - 1907 treaty there wouldn't be a present boundary between cambodia and siam, or laos or vietnam for that matter. thus, i'm sure cambodia would have reclaim all of our old provinces from them then, and siam, at that time would have falling under france colonialism just like cambodia. that's why the 1904 -1907 treaty was in conceived and came into existence. and the siem thugs can say whatever about it, again, they are showing the world that they are disrespecting or violating the official treaty that formed the political boundaries between siam and cambodia at that time.
cambodia will never forget that forever. for this reason, it is right for khmer people to call siem as thieves, for stealing lands from cambodia and by taking full advantage of cambodia because we let them and because we are nice to them. i think that kind of khmer hospitality ought to be reformed so cambodia will not lose any more of our precious khmer ancestral lands to siem again. in fact, if anything, cambodia should demand the return to cambodia all our lost provinces, considering the way the siem are doing to us now in the case of preah vihear temple. god bless cambodia.
anyway, i hope this important national historical date, 07 July 2008 will permanently marked by cambodia as a way to commemorate our lost provinces and to remind our khmer people to be very wary and skeptical when dealing or trusting the siem thugs or youn or whatever, especially those countries that stole lands from us, particularly, siem, youn and lesser extent laos. god bless cambodia.
Indian will only destroy the temple(7:14), just like what happened to Angkor in 1980s. Never trust Indian. Indians are just like snake.
Malaysian Proverb: if you are in the jungle and you see an indian and a snake, you have to kill an indian first then a snake, cos indian is more dangerious that snake.
i think we are saying in terms of investment, not asking india to build our khmer temple or whatever. i mean the world can give us good, sound advice, but not actually building the temple. god bless cambodia.
Siam does not like to see Khmer people succeed. They know that its was never their land, culture, heritage to begin with. That is why they're jealous.
No hold it. Indians almost destroyed Angkor Wat. We cannot trust anyone but to put our trust on the scientist (Geologist) who are expert with earth, planet and rock. The geologists can identify the age of the stone or rock and what type of material our ancestors used to build the Temples.
India has multiples ethnic groups and used to have many Kingdoms, and we don't know which Kingdom that our ancestors migrated from
in the part of India to build Khmer nation. We have to write to the Khmer government to pursue the geologist first.
Khmer People,
Please pay attention to me, what's about Koh Tral island? can we get it back?
Come on and bring a suicide bomb with you to Koh Tral.
dear all,
at least all of you have common point of loving Cambodia/Khmer. Can we find other way for discussion rather cursing each other.
Cursing each other is not the good and to show other nation we lack of unity and solidarity.
all the bests;
Sarath

We are Khmer!,Thank you!,May God bless you all.
Everyone deserve a pat on the back. Job well done!!! One thing at a time but first must unite in order to achieve our goal. We all should plan a celebration... Thanks Unesco!
Bravo, Cambodia
Wish H.E Sok An with the God blessing, You are really very hard for this duty in Quebec, The history will register you as a Koun Khmer Snea Cheat.
Preah Vihear, you are really pity with us very long, but you alway stay with us, Khmer love you as the mother. We must defend you!!
Please boycott the Thai product!!!
From Ramy, Chungnam University, South Korea.
The next step is protecting khmer land around the temple before the Thai claim it.
Now Soc Anh should claim back the lands from his yuan master, too, is he is Khmer and man enough.
cambodia, remember the 1962 icj verdict? the verdict used the 1904 -1907 treaty map to make decision for cambodia or to enforce the already in place treaty that siem so violated in th '30s, '40s, and '50s; that was the reason why cambodia in 1962 took them to The Hague. and now they continue to violate that very 1904 - 1907 treaty that their former king chulalongkorn signed in order to save siam from falling into colonialism of france along with cambodia, vietnam and laos of that time. so, legally, the 1962 verdict enforces that treaty using that map that the siem so violated unilaterally even after the court verdict to claim that they are still disputed the surround land. just look at the 1904 - 1907 treaty maps and one can see the obvious violation or shall i say contempt of court by thailand today. oh my god, they just don't give up wanting to steal from cambodia even there was a world court verdict for them to stop doing so. if it's not contempt of court, i don't know what is!
cambodia, don't let them (siem) get away with it i.e., the so-called disputed 4.6 km2 or more in land area that they are stealing from cambodia even after the court ruling; and they redraw the dotted line as their boundary unilaterally, even after the court ruling. look at the old maps to compare it to the new maps. remember, the key word is "unilaterally", the way they did this. don't let them thieves get away with it. use the icj verdict as evidence to stop them from taking anymore of our previous land. god bless cambodia.
I don't ever eat the germ virus dirt infested Siem products since the longest time. I only eat Japanese food items, though, if you should know.
Koh Tral is next. What is our legal standing on the matter? Ah YOUNs say that the French already ceded to them, and there is nothing the Khmer can do about it. However, we need to consider everything to make ah YOUN return our Khmer Koh Tral back to our mother land Cambodia. The question is how are we going to do it?
What about the Khmer temple in Laos, shouldn't be reclaiming it back as well. Just a thought. The Lieves they seem to be cool with the Khmer folks. We share with them. However, ah Nan Chao Siems and ah Red Delta YOUNs, we must be on guard against them always. They are inherently criminals and land-grabbers and invaders of our Khmer territory since the 13th century. Ah Delta YOUNs have been invading and detaching our Khmer provinces since the 17th century. Ah Lieves as well have been detaching our provinces since the 13th century as well. No wonder the new generation Khmer ask, "Why are Khmer territory so small when the history shows that it was so huge and powerful?"

We will mark this day as the day to remembrance that the thieves that terrorized us in 1962 had been caught again and we will see to it that crime does pay.
A reminder to my people: as this is not the end, we must be vigilant and protect the KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA AT ALL COST!
Thank you ICJ and UNESCO for your outstanding jobs in the matter!
In Unity and Solidarity
9:49am, we can do this by having enough evidence to show to the world that khmer people always were there and the khmer people never ever forget the loss we suffered from france doing this to cambodia by ceding khmer krom to vietnam when they left indochina. i'm sure if you check with an organization called the khmer border committee, they have a lot of evidence that our former kings since had numerous times fought and claim the area, and that the france was the one to ceded the land to youn, not our great kings. see, we must be clever about it though by continue to educate our khmer population or perhaps, too, by reforming our way of thinking and believing, just enough to make everyone understand and realize the benefit that we can have, but lost due to france ceding khmer krom land and koh tral to youn witout a treaty from cambodia, etc... this is a good lesson for cambodia to learn from france doing this; that is to never allow a country to colonize us to include vietnam and laos like the france did all three countries like that because look at it when france left they just decided to cede the khmer properties to youn without even consulting with cambodia as they were the boss at that time. this is why many cambodia still harbor resentment.
that said, history indicated that not all french people did bad thing like this to cambodia, though. in fact there was a lot of great and good-hearted french colonial masters who actually encouraged khmer people to fight for their rights under france rules because they saw that vietnam or youn was taken over cambodia because the french favored youn over khmer for some reason. this one french individual, a lady, i think her name was suzanne k., i don't remember her last name that well but it starts with a k, and her first name is suzanne for sure. she was a french teacher sent to cambodia to teach khmer people french language. anyway, she was fair and just to khmer people, and she saw the pattern or the disadvantage khmer under france had when compare to youn people. so, she encourage khmer people never to forget our culture, tradtion, and to maintain our khmer identity etc...
anyway, she was a great lady and was loved by a lot of khmer people as a result. i hope someone can help me find her name correctly. i'm sure she was mentioned in the history of cambodia books; this is how i knew, but just that i don't remember her name as it was a long time since i read or came across it. anyway, i hope someone can help to find her name and recognize her for her loving effort to help and encourage khmer people to maintain and never forget our khmer culture, tradition and identity etc.... what a great french lady she was, and i'm sure other are many more of them out there with such good godly heart. anyway...
Thailand must suit WHC for listing the temple to thieves in Cambodia.
A Chkort 11:00p.m!!! who is thief? A Siam or khmer? if you want to know clearly, please ask your mother ass!! Her ass will tell that A Siam has no land before 11 century. So A Siam is the thief, not Khmer A Pler!!
WHC has known clearly your evil behavior. So they vote for Cambodia!
Close your mouth A Pler!
Ah Pler 11:00 if you are still now happy, then go die in Nan Chao, ah pler. Hahha.Let me go research on Ah Nan Chao Siems. They are the biggest Land thieves and invaders. I will be back...I think it is called Suit101.com or something like that. I'll back for you ah Nan Chao Siems. Hahah
Stop dreaming, ah Jkout (11:35). Thai never steals anything from Khmer in Issan province, only the monkey in Cambodia does.
Hey Folks!
I've found out that Kampuchea Krom is on the pending in French Parliament or court. Sihanouk have requested the French court to review this case over again but coincidently Khmer got into war from the early 70s and on. Now since Cambodia working toward stability we have to request the French court to revive this case again. They said the case is more likely to be review.
I am happy to hear this.
Bravo! Khmer!!!
If you want to know more please do research. Like you know nowaday is easy for us with this technology.
6:36PM:
any hope? the head of government is Yourn...
The temple belongs to Khmer people in Issan province, not the ugly apes in Cambodia.
