CPP claims 88 to 91 seats at National Assembly of Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The major ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has claimed 88 to 91 out of the 123 seats at the National Assembly, after the ballots were basically counted for Sunday's fourth general election of the country, said senior CPP officials.

CPP secured 88 seats and the major opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) 30, while the newly established Human Rights Party (HRP) and Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP) respectively 3 and 2, source at the CPP headquarters told Xinhua.

The co-ruling Funcinpec Party had none seat, the source added.

Meanwhile, source close to Prime Minister Hun Sen's advisory body told Xinhua that CPP had 91 seats, SRP 26, HRP 3, NRP 2 and Funcinpec 1.

Monday afternoon, the National Election Committee (NEC) will make public preliminary overall official results of the polling. Final official results can be known about one month later.

Altogether 11 political parties ran for the 123 seats at the Cambodian National Assembly. A total of 8,125,529 voters were registered to vote at 15,255 polling stations nationwide and 17,000 local and international observers watched the polling process, according to NEC figures.

I was about right on the money when I said two days ago that the Royalists party might win as about 4 seats as many.

Now we can clearly see that money can buy almost everything. This corrupted government grow richer and richer; most of the core members of CPP, like Cham Prasith, Hok Lundy, Sok An, etc., excluding Hun Sen and his whole families who have hundred millions of $, have tons of money.

Will it be a "BLESS" or "CURSE" for Cambodia? The answer will be drawn from all of these events:

1. The negotiation today with Thailand. See RGC will give any concession or sign any supplemental treaty that cede land to Thai or provide any invisible interest under the table to Thai for Prah Vihear matter.

2. The long-awaited anti-corruption law and the promise to fight with the worldwide negative images-as state with strong impunity, partisan and very partial wild-like system of the government and the effectiveness and political will to implement the imigration law-will occur or not?Speed like turtoise speed????? Can this newly elected government fufill their promises??????

May God Blesses Cambodia

the reason is that most people have the tendecy to do evil things than good; that's logically true. If you don't believe me, observe how people do things. "The straight honest never prosper."

Why people choose CPP? It's because they are the people (majority of them) who are living in Cambodia and are the one able to comprehend and realize the development and goods that CPP goverment has produced for them and the country. Those that are anti-CPP are most of whom live outside Cambodia. They are being showered with Pro-Sam Rainsy information and anti-CPP everyday. That's why.

I am not supporter of any party but you people need to learn how to accept things properly as intelligent human being if you want to call yourself that. The election monitoring national and international alike say this is by far the fairest and most stable election Cambodia ever has. Stop being delusional and find excuses to blame any party you don't like. CPP wins because they are rich and have the power to campaign and what they have achieved for Cambodia. Just look at Cambodia now and compare it to let's say 1979 or even in the 80's, even in the 90's. I live in Cambodia in the 80's and 90's. Trust me if you Khmer abroad are so oblivious. Our country is much better than any of those times that I've been alive in Khmer land. You part-time politicians and critics need to look at the brighter sides of things sometimes or least your eyes are fixated only with darkness and never see the light of day. I know most of you are from the states, just make sure you're not in the of state of denial ;)

That's reasonable, but the matter of the fact is taht the CPP is very deceptive in this game.

One weird thing in this election is why would the source of a result came from the CPP??!!Should be it based on an independent media? Should this be a staged election by the CPPs that they will make sure they will win no matter what.

The reason why this election had very little violence because it is not needed--the CPPs have been assured by the NEC that the CPPs will win.

It is all a staged election for Hun Sen and the CPPs.

Here again with the democrats. Never learn any lesson!!!UNITED WE STAND! Instead, the democrats have done the opposite: DIVIDED WE LOSE! which is evidenced by: Khmer Democrats = Opposition - SRP - HRP - FUNCINPEC - NRP

And the Khmer Communists = CPP

It is a simple math which the democrats never get it!

Another 5-years with the Hanoi-puppet government, Sok Kong(Viet business) continues his control of Angkor Wat's money, and Preah Vihear is just for another Viet business. Rubber plantations are for Viets. Khmer forests are for Viets. Tonle Sap are for Viets. Construction business are for Viets. Hydro electrics along Mekong Rivers are for Viets. Oil and Gas explorations are for Viets. Telephone industries are for Viets.

Vietnamization of indochina(Champa, Kampuchea-Krom, Lao, Cambodia) is very real now. Give it 5 to 10 years periods, and all Khmers will have to apply for VISA at Viet embassies to visit Cambodia.

Don't bring your relatives into this, dude. Just because they are needy or ,in most cases, lazy and greedy, doesn't say anything about other Khmer who work hard for their own money in Cambodia. It's very likely your relatives are lazy leeches that like to live off your money.

I have same situation with a few relatives from Srok Sre who depend on my family's income instead of working hard like everyone else. That being said, do you think 15 million Khmer all have relatives overseas to ask for money? lol Come on, dude. What you're saying is like the whole country is run on your generosity. Get a grip, bro. Your money from overseas benefit only one group, your own family. That is nothing compared to the whole Cambodian economy, garment sectors, tourism, rice production, rubber plantation, housing, imports and exports, etc...
