Opposition Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Tuesday urged the government to reserve the rights to protect the country's sovereignty and ensure that the country would not be taken advantage over demarcation of areas around Preah Vihear Temple.

Abhisit said the government must come up with measures and steps to be taken after the Hindu temple has been listed as a UNESCO's World Heritage Site so that the country would not face receding soereignty from the listing.

He suggested that the government should quickly settle with Cambodia over the management of the buffer zone.

11:46 PM....I think so too. It is unacceptable to say such thing here.

This Khmer Issan does not represent the thai people in general. We are the REAL Thais believe that only small group of thai politicians and others are trying to disturb the good relationship of the two countries. We never have been against Cambodia for the listing of the temple.

To the khmer-Issan. You are not thai's friend, but thai's slave. You are disgrace and bring bad reputation to our thai people. So, stop your stupid dream of getting the temple.

yes, in accordance to the 1962 icj verdict the 1904 -1907 treaty map is the legal boundary between cambodia and thailand, not the unilaterally redraw maps by thailand in order to get as close as they can to the preah vihear temple. all one has to do is study the icj documents and compare the legal map of the 1904 -1907 treaty to the newer maps redraw by thailand unilaterally and one will see the violation by thailand on this so-called 4.6 km2 area which really belongs to cambodia after the icj verdict already, but thailand, with contempt of court, redraw the 1904 - 1907 treaty map to claim that their territory is as close to the preah vihear temple as possible. that is not right and still violated cambodia's sovereignty. cambodia needs to push hard by using the icj verdict map. always. this is not settled yet as thailand continue to violate the court order of icj verdict of 1962. to see this clearly, just review and study the icj decision document. i'm telling you, they still violated cambodia's sovereignty, and it has nothing to do with preah vihear temple itself as that belongs to cambodia all along. the real issue to be settle still is the 4.6 km2 or even bigger area than that is so illegally occupied by thailand in violation of the icj.

buffer zone my ass, that land area is actually belongs to cambodia in accordance to the icj verdict of 1962. it is thailand who shows contempt of court and unilaterally redraw the map in their own favor despite the icj verdict already. what kind of justice for cambodia is that? just study the icj papers and everyone will see the real violation of the icj verdict. this is a serious issue for cambodia for thailand to continue to steal from cambodia, non-stop. don't think just because preah vihear is listed that cambodia is satisfied with thailand. not all not, given the protested the listing as a pretext to steal the 4.6 km2 area surrounding the temple itself. this 4.6 km2 belongs to cambodia and icj had confirmed it already because thailand had violated the 1904 - 1907 treaty that their dead king chulalongkorn had signed with france who represented cambodia at the time of this signing in 1904 - 1907 treaty. their dead king signed this treaty in exchanged for france not to colonize siem at that time. so, they must respect this very treaty. their violation of this treaty was the very reason why cambodia took thailand to court in 1962 and icj ruled in favor of cambodia's claim, not thailand's. so, for thailand to continue to stake claim in our khmer territory is in violation of the icj verdict, period. cambodia, please continue to push this issue on world stage so we can find justice for cambodia. god bless cambodia.
