A message from Justin C. Sok: Please Support the SRP National General Election Fund Drive

July 01, 2008

Dear Friends,

The three terms office that Mr. Hun Sen has been in power have given us the bird’s eye view of the pattern of political activities in the Hun Sen Government. He and his government officials have been continuously silencing the dissident voices of our Cambodian people and their fundamental rights to freedom of expression, press, assembly, association, and religions are being violated and suppressed. The gap between the rich and poor is wider. The social issues such as land grabbing, illegal evictions, illegal logging, lack of health care and treatment, unemployment, inflation, and poverty are unresolved. On May 29, 2008, we learned that a man’s wife had to sell two of their 7 children to bail her husband out from [police] jail. While the Senate had shoveled off the corruption law proposals and buried them under their desks, the corruption activities are being fully conducted by government officials. Irrefutably, there has been no sign of any intervention from Samdach Akkak Moha Sena Bat Dey Dek Cho Hun Sen.

The political campaign for the fourth National General Election has begun and so did the illegal political maneuvering made by the Hun Sen government: vote buying, threats made against innocent citizens, political activists, and journalists. The elected officials from the opposition parties are being intimidated, extorted, ransomed, and blackmailed, and others have been threatened by lawsuits and jail. On June 28, 2008, while Deputy Secretary General, Mu Sochau and her SRP supporters were actively campaigning in Kampot province, the CPP Deputy Village Chief rode his motorcycle at full speed toward her in an attempt to run her over.

To our Khmer compatriots, when you consider the threat we face from the Hun Sen government who are hoping to not only use any means possible to strengthen their grip on power but also flooded our country with the illegal Vietnamese immigrants and has allowed the neighboring countries to encroach into our land and draw a new borders, this is clearly one of the most important elections of our lifetime. Each and every one of us, as a Khmer people, has a moral and ethical responsibility to contribute what is in the best interest for our Khmer people and Khmer nation.

The Sam Rainsy Party is appealing to our compatriots that are living abroad for help. The SRP is conducting its National General Election Fund Drive, and your participation is urgently needed more than ever. Over the next several days, many of your friends and neighbors in your area will be asking you to make contribution to SRP. Your donations will help support the SRP candidates to save the Cambodian people and the Khmer nation from the totalitarian CPP government in this rapidly approaching election. Mr. Sam Rainsy, if elected as Prime Minister, would vow to defend our Khmer people and Khmer nation, and would offer our Khmer people a vision of change, which means opportunity and hope. Therefore, your support today is urgently needed if our SRP candidates have any hope of winning. Remember, if Mr. Hun Sen gets reelected to the Prime Minister for another term, it would truly be a disaster for Cambodia. So, please use the website provided to send in your contribution as soon as possible. Thank you and May Lord Buddha Blesses us, Blesses Khmer nation. Click here to Support the Sam RainsyParty.

Sincerely,

Justin C. Sok, Volunteer

I already wired 200 dollars donation to Cambodian Commercial Bank Limited for the Sam Rainsy Party. It is really easy. I went to my bank and told the clerk I want to wire some money to Cambodia and the person made me fill out an-easy to read form and then that is it. It is nice to see that Cambodia now has become a member of the international banking system. Cool indeed! If the Sam Rainsy won, I bet the country will be so modernized in most aspects and the Khmer people will once again LIVE and WALK TALL like others in the developed world. Peace to all.

CPP government is the major corruption government in South East Asia.
Cambodia is gone down hill for 30 years and turn to the poorest country in the world.
Hun Sen and his CPP are not smart enough to run the country.
Cambodia need new well educated government to bring the country backup.

Sam Rainsy has bought many lands near mine. Where did he get the money? KI Media fund raising? I think this forum for khmers, not just for Sam Rainsy Party. The name alone says it is a dictatorship party. Change the name and I would give some money.

Yeah, but don't forget that Yuon owns Ki Media because it belongs to Ah Khmer-Yuon.

It is indeed a well written piece of article but Justin failed to get his points right on numerous occasions and subjects, for instance:-

Bird's eye view

Bird's eye view in this context is rather ambiguous - "a scratch on the surface" than the in depth knowledge about the issues mentioned in this particular sentence itself.

Hun Sen and his government officials have been continuously silencing the dissident voices of our Cambodian people and their fundamental rights to freedom of expression, press, assembly, association, and religions are being violated and suppressed.
The point I would like to stress here is "And religions are being violated and suppressed". In the matter of fact, whilst Cambodia declared and official recognized that Buddhism is the National Religion, however the State and Government are also allowed other religions from all parts of the world to be set up and accommodated each individual followers nation wide. Cambodia nowadays has a diverse religions than ever before and than its neighbouring countries. For instance: we have Muslim [newly built mosque are in every commune where our Chams are residing], Taoist [was totally banned under the Lon Nol regime, where Chinese schools nation wide located within the temple were converted to other amenities or high school, just in case of Chinese schools in Battambang: Kok Kwan was used us Svay Por High, Chip Seng became Eap Khut 2, and one beside Hap Be cinema became detention centre for those Vietnamese people], Catholic, Christian and Evangelist [on the increase and a numbers of Cambodia people now are now the followers] just to name a few.

If one should carefully read the wordings "The CPP Deputy Village Chief rode his motorcycle at full speed toward her in an attempt to run her over".

This is when political correctness went wrong. What's a stumble Justin? Justin actually exaggerated the words and contradict to Mrs. Mu's claim "The driver tried to hit her with his motorcycle " and other "After a brief argument, the deputy village chief verbally threatened to run over Mu Sochua, who was blocking him from leaving. He immediately accelerated at full speed, with Mu Sochua narrowly escaping serious bodily harm or even death' .

Rode his motorcycle at full speed in an attempt to run over her is clearly to say that the Deputy Village Chief may have his intention or well prepared himself rather than having a brief argument and verbally threatened to run over Mrs. Mu.

Kampot Candidate Scuffles With CPP
On Saturday, Mu Sochua claims, she argued with a ruling Cambodian People's Party commune chief who was wearing a CPP hat--a violation of election regulations. She filed a complaint with police claiming the driver tried to hit her with his motorcycle.
Prey Khmom CPP deputy village chief attempted to run over SRP candidate Mu Sochua with his motorcycle

Mu Sochua stopped the moto-cycle and introduced herself in order to address the violation of the election rules and regulations. After a brief argument, the deputy village chief verbally threatened to run over Mu Sochua, who was blocking him from leaving. He immediately accelerated at full speed, with Mu Sochua narrowly escaping serious bodily harm or even death.

Sir or Madam @ 6:35 AM,

You have wasting way too much of your valuable time trying to make comment about someone else opinion. My suggestion is, rather, for you to write your own formal piece of opinion and post it on the public forum and lets the public chew on it.

It is indeed, politic. And it is a National General Election. If we were to really looking at the big picture, I would agree with Mr. Justin.

Reading your "psychobabbling" comment bored me like a child sucking on pacifier and eyes rolling ready to go to sleep.

Dear Khmer abroad, USA.
I have a website www.mediawatch-newstopia.blogspot.com, please feel free to click on and read some of my articles, I have posted one one concerning Khmer Abroad in particular Cambodian-American.

By all means, please leave a comment.

The problem with Justin's letter is kind of misleading about religions being suppressed and the exaggerated comment about a person wich is contradicted to Mrs. Mu's claim.

I do believed in fairness and justice but Cambodian-American is far off mark with one side coin rahter facts and truths.
