Mr Hun Sen Can Be PM Forever

(L-R) Heng Samrin, Chea Sim and Hun Sen.

Saturday, 5th July 2008

Translated from Khmer by Khmerization

Samdech Chea Sim, president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has formally and publicly confirmed to local and foreign officials that Mr. Hun Sen is currently the Prime Minister of Cambodia and is a prime ministerial candidate for the fourth mandate parliamentary election which will be held on the 27th of July. He added that the party will let Mr. Hun Sen serve as PM for as long as he wants, if the party keeps winning the elections.

Mr Chea Sim was speaking during an inauguration ceremony of the newly-built CPP's headquarter in Ouddor Meanchey province and during the official launch of the CPP's election campaign on the 4th of July.

Mr. Chea Sim said that the CPP will win the upcoming election in July based on three important factors: Firstly, the party had increased its votes in every election. Secondly, the party is actively working hard with its base officials and with the people in every village. Thirdly, since 1979, the CPP had led the country to tremendous success which convinced the party's members and the Cambodian people to support it.

It's you again the Vietcong from the floating village!

Don't worry monkeys on the photo will fall and you will be deported.

Anonymous said...

Wait and see, the result on the 27th of July might send the CPP to unemployment.

Anonymous said...

Just keep in mind these three monkeys
have not been legally elected Khmer leaders. They are the puppets of Vietnam, who one day should be cast aside. They ahve no respectable value.

I feel sorry for these Cambodians like 10 31PM.

If you read 10 19PM very careful and think harder, you'd appreciate his comments. The comments of feeling pain to know his country remains miserable because of what he sees.

Yes everyone of you like to talk so big but none of you can do to oust Hun Sen. Because of that the Cambodian people who live in Cambodia won't take a chance to face another sufferings.

Anonymous said...

Throughout history, every time Cambodia takes a chance, the country is getting smaller, and the people is getting poorer. How much more chances do you want us to take?

Anonymous said...

As long as human beings exist, countless chances they will take. Because the leaders are such unpatriotic, tha's why people get poorer. The chance for the people to take right now is to vote the CPP out, not to take a chance to go to war!

Your Cambodian should learn how the Vietnamese defeated Chinese after a thousand years under China ruled.
You have to study how others did to be successful people. An entire Chinese army was decimated along thousand of their own Vietnamese Peasants. The Vietnamese are not afraid to sacrifice their own people lives for the cause to save their nation.

The real numbers of the Vietnamese people who died during wars with French and US were more than 4 million but the Vietnamese do not let the world know about it, they concentrate to keep their nation in one piece and build the nation.

The Vietnamese hated the French but they worked for the French to receive a full trust and do not forget that the Vietnamese were loved and trusted by the French to control over Cambodia and Lao state affair.

They created and changed the documents and that was why Kampuchea Krom and Island Koh Trol
were officially incorporated in Vietnam on French Map.

Stop talking garbage and blaming each others, but learn from others how they could do.

If one theory does not work then find another one.

Hope the best for Cambodia

Among other thing, isn't it a fact, that he just recently blew a TV guy's brain out just because the guy was a pro-CPP party? And isn't a fact, that he publicly accusing all of his opponent for being a killer just to cover up the afore mentioned crime?

i think it is ok, however, i'm wondering what will happen after mr. hun sen grew old and incapable due to old age or whatever? will cambodia going into chaotic state like history has shown after a capable leader had passed away. i just hope and pray that cambodia won't be like the past chaotic times again due to the passing of a leader. because often, in ancient time, politicians would fight each other for the power position. well, that said, now that cambodia swear to live by the rule of laws, let's hope after mr. hun sen or whoever, cambodia won't be going into chaos again. this is why it is very very importance to establish a permanent rule of laws in cambodia so something like the past tragic history won't repeat itself non-stop. this is what cambodia need to think about and consider, the future of cambodia so it won't fall into the same endless cycle of violence, civil war, and suffering like in the past as history have shown. rule of laws will help to put the house in order for that matter, i think. after all, this democracy, right? therefore, it is the khmer people who vote for their leaders, despite how many a leader has been in office already. if people still love, admire and vote for them, then, i guess it is a fair game in the name of democracy unless there is an introduction of law in the constitution to limit such term limits. as of now, cambodia has no such law, yet? so, it's a fair democratic game to participate. god bless cambodia and all her beautiful khmer people.

Do you think dictator Hun Sen will die of old age?

Oh well! HUN SEN CPP will continue to win Cambodian election for many more years to come because majority of Cambodian people and businessmen are choosing the corruption as their profession! And beside HUN SEN CPP has all the money in the world to corrupt any Cambodian people and leaders, NGOs, and businessmen many times over!

It is amazing to me that many Cambodian people and leaders, NGOs, and businessmen choose corruption as their profession and yet they claim that they want Cambodia to be modern, democratic and civilized! So tell me how that is possible!

This is what I can say that Cambodian will be the most backward country in Southeast Asia as long as Cambodian people don't take the corruption issue seriously because of corruption and Cambodia will have so many unsolved domestic issues and let alone in trying to solve international issues such as land, border, and sovereignty issues!

Cambodia use to be a communist country but isn’t communist like China that can produce virtually any products for the world consumer! Cambodia can claim to be the world freest market place by joining WTO but Cambodia isn’t free market place like Singapore that can manufacture many high tech products for the world consumer!

When the longest serving Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew of Singapore in power since 1959 to 1990 and he encouraged Singaporean to own home and take ownership and Singapore has outstanding economic progress! Now compare that to Cambodian longest serving prime minister HUN SEN since 1985 to 2008 and he encourage Cambodian to be worker and take low paying job and he disposed them of their land and give it to big businesses and major corporations! So there is more Cambodian homeless then ever before!

Let hope that HUN SEN legacy will not be a curse that can pass on to the next generation of Cambodian children! I believe Cambodian people and leaders can do way better than this!

Anonymous said...

you know, as long as there is no term limit law in the constitution, don't expect mr. hun sen to stop running. and yes, as long as people continue to like him and admire him, which is their rights, by the way and his rights as well to run, i don't think he does anything wrong there as cambodian laws allow candidate to run as many time as they can handle. again, if anyone want to stop or see a change to that, only the introduction of term limit laws will prevent such candidate from re-run in the election. so, complain all want, it's not going to change unless the law is there. and right now there is no law like that in the constitution.

that said, i think mr. hun sen is a law abiding citizen, so he dare not violated any cambodian law; so, the way i see it, only the introduction of term limit laws like in the USA, the EU or wherever will stop it.

It is a normal affair and rights of a political party to nominate and announce a particular person who they think fit as theirs candidate/leader of the party.

As a nominated candidate is just the first step, paving the way for such a particular person to stand and run for the driver seat, however such a person is still having a harder task ahead of him/her - convince people to vote for him.

Majority of comments [stated above] were againgst to such an idea.

One possible way is to exercise your rights [should one feels to do so] to turn up during the election day and cast your vote accordingly to your truthful feeling and wills.

All the best of lucks.

Do you live on Mars?

Anonymous said...

yes, the power is all in the vote. what i don't understand is why the paranoia or worries about someone cheating or someone running for too long or whatever. yes, where is the term limit laws to prevent such rights of a candidate, if they are so concern? i didn't see hilary clinton keep on fighting with barack obama after she lost. and the same to other presidential candidates vying for presidential position. for cambodian politicians to keep on fighting even after they lost is something else. i hope cambodia will see the USA's election as an inspiration for cambodia to work together after the election is over, despite whoever wins. god bless cambodia.

Anonymous said...

5:02am, yes, "for cambodian politicians to keep on fighting each other even after the election is won by a party is something else." good point here, this goes to show there is some kind of personal ambition behind it perhaps this can bring in a lot of question about the candidates that are doing just that, continue to fight without regards to the true voices of the majority of the khmer citizens who casted their votes for their candidate of their liking. to say the least, this kind of potential leader is not what cambodia need at all as cambodian people like myself feel this person may cause more problems for cambodia than helping to solve it. i think what cambodia needs now at this time period of development and stability etc, is a good leader who can and is willing to sacrifice and unite the khmer people, not the other way around, really. so, that said, i hope cambodian people are wary of any potential leader who are too radical in their vision, too extreme in their policy, too strong in their rhetorics, too paranoia in their dealing with the international community, etc...

that said, of course, there will be time when cambodia will need a strong, capable leader, when again, khmer people can decide if and when that time comes. but for now, i don't think cambodia need that kind of individual who claim to be mr. know-all, or mr. unyielding to the good direction the nation is heading. in short, cambodia do not need a trouble-maker at this time or maybe at anytime in our history again. may god bless all khmer people and our leaders.

Sam Rainsys autobiography: Rooted in stone

La version franaise se trouve la fin du texte anglais
Rooted in Stone -
My struggle for the revival of Cambodia

By Sam Rainsy
Ravaged by genocide, coveted by powerful and predatory neighbors, submitted to a corrupt nomenklatura, choked by a neo-feudal regime, Cambodia is a martyr country, and no one knows this better than Sam Rainsy. Born into a patrician family in Phnom Penh, close to King Norodom Sihanouk, young Rainsy lived an opulent life but then also lived through decline, when his father, a major politician, was brutally dismissed and had to live in hiding before being assassinated.

Taking refuge in Paris, the Sam family resigned themselves to live as poor immigrants. However, they never lost their hope or dignity. A gifted student, Rainsy undertook brilliant studies that led him to become a high level finance expert, specializing in mergers and acquisitions for the luxury industry

But, how could he be happy earning money and making money for others, when his country was sinking into cruelty in the hands of a regime practicing mass murder? From humanitarian action in Paris for the victims of the Khmer Rouge regime to election campaigns in the field following the fall of the communists, Rainsy and Saumura, his wife, launch themselves into political action, taking over the torch from their respective fathers, both of whom were signatories of the 1954 Geneva agreements on Indochina.

However, for these two westernized Cambodians, their return home was rough. Facing with difficulties, aggressions, and even assassination attempts, Rainsy countered them with Buddhist-like pacifism, while constantly seeking for calm and compromise. Becoming the Minister of Economy in the first post-war mandate government, he was able to bring order to the State finances which earned him more hostilities. It was in the opposition that he found his calling when he founded a democratic and liberal party involved in the defense of freedom. Facing the unleashing of violence prompted by such provocation, Rainsy stays the course, unperturbed and smiling, unshakable and frugal, just like the trees deeply rooted in the stones of the Angkor temples.

In May 2008, Sam Rainsys 300-page long autobiography detailing his struggle for the revival of Cambodia, Rooted in stone, will be published in France by Calmann-Lvy. This book can be pre-ordered through SRP-France at a cost of 20 euros, or 22.97 euros including shipping.

The Khmer and English version of the book will be published in the following months.
