Even with the tense Cambodian-Thai face off in the Preah Vihear temple region, the Cambodian government still claims that there is no plan to repatriate back the 80,000 Cambodian workers in Thailand. In an interview with The Mekong Times on Wednesday, Um Mean, the under-secretary of state of the ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said: “We have no plan to bring back our workers currently in Thailand, because we didn’t hear about any hardship from them.” Um Mean added: “We think that their repatriation at this time would be too hasty, and it could also cloud the tense atmosphere between the two countries as well.” According the ministry of labor report, currently, there are about 80,000 Cambodian workers in Thailand, both legal and illegal.

We khmers should thanks for Thailand to make peace to khmers people there. I don't know why our Cambodian government can't insure Thai people to live peacefully here. But, why we always use violence.

Rong Chhun calls for travelling fees not to increase during elections
24-07-2008
The chairman of the Cambodian Confederation of Unions, Rong Chhun, appealed to taxi drivers and bus companies not to increase their fares as workers travel to vote in their native villages on July 27.

The Cambodian Confederation of Unions includes the Cambodian Independent Teachers’ Association and the Free Trade Union of Workers of the Kingdom of Cambodia (FTUWKC).

In a letter sent this Wednesday to taxi drivers and bus companies, Rong Chhun asked them to keep prices as normal so that migrant workers can vote in their villages. “These parliamentary elections are very interesting. When one elects a fair leader who looks after the general interest, who is not corrupted and can prevent price hikes, then one can work better. Conversely we would face difficulties if taxis and other means of transportation were to become a financial hindrance for the workers”, wrote the opposition friendly Rong Chhun.

Early this month CPP-friendly unions have asked Phnom Penh’s governor to take action with the city’s taxi drivers and buses companies in order to prevent any price increases during the elections. They agreed and will not increase their fares. This letter serves as a reminder for all road transportation stakeholders.

If the country economy is growing why are Khmer people looking for work in other country?

Clearly over the last 30 years Hun Sen /CPP only care about themself and not the Khmer people.

And clearly it show the CPP & Ah Hun Sen is not capable to managing the country....it a complete mesh in every aspects of Cambodia.

They even fuck up small issue like the boarder between Thai & Vietnam

The soldier should NOT DIE because of the CPP OFFICIALS INCOMPETENCY.
When they cant fixed they scream for the UN to help. When the UN done their job and have no use for them ...Hun Sen tell then to PISS OFF.

6:44, thank for the "Stupidest Question du Jour". For the same token, one can ask if the US, UK, ..., AU are so good, why people come back to Cambodia?
