Battambang provincial police on Tuesday prevented a convoy of protesters from leaving the province en route to the house of Prime Minister Hun Sen on the outskirts of Phnom Penh.
Police say the group of villagers did not have the proper documentation to assemble during an election campaign, a contention rights group assailed as unlawful.
The protest stems from the questioning of a deputy village chief by provincial court officials in Battambang Monday, which the protesting villagers considered unfair.
