Reactions on Thailand latest claims on Preah Vihear

PAD fooling the people

I cannot believe the lunatics at the PAD have actually got the Thai people and the Puea Pandin party fooled over the Preah Vihear temple.

The line was drawn by the French in 1904, the International Court of Justice ruled on it in 1962, and the new line agreed by the Thai and Cambodian government actually brings more land into Thailand than the old map. If the Cambodian government is happy to concede some land to the Thais while retaining the temple that is, and has always been, on Cambodian soil, then it is a win for the Thai government.

This is just another example of the PAD stirring up issues trying to validate its existence. The fact that Puea Pandin party has weighed into it is disappointing; you would expect them to know better.

As for the Democrats, I hope they find the same demise the Australian Democrats recently have. Throwing stones at the government is good fun, but if you are never going to get a chance to run the country then it's a choice you can make without fear of having to prove you can do a better job.

The last Australian Democrats were voted out in November from the Senate and, as of July 1, the Democrats will be dead in Australia. Hopefully, the Thai Democrats will become history in the near future.

Nationalist bombast a little too late

I don't know what possesses the Thais lately who have started reclaiming the Cambodian Preah Vihear temple, 46 years after an international tribunal awarded it to Cambodia.

Anyone with more than a bird's brain will surely understand that this temple is clearly Cambodian (ever visited the site and compared it to Angkor?) and realise it is rather late to fire up their nationalistic bombast in order to get back the temple, as a spoilt brat would do.

By the way, the disputed 4.6 square kilometres around the site represents less then 0.01% of Thailand's territory.

As if common sense weren't enough to let the issue drop, just imagine the damage this whole issue could do to the relationship with Cambodia and the backlash from the international community, where Thailand already commands very little respect.

Wake up and don't politicise the issue to topple the government. The current administration hasn't done a lot lately, but their handling of the temple issue should probably be the least of the Thai people's worries.

Thailand swallowed its word. As the comment in this article, the recent Thai government had seed the benefit more than loss, it's why they agreed to support Cambodia. If Cambodia stays firm to claim 4.6 km2, I'm sure it will get much of that area.

As I used to hear, Hun Sen likes to play trick but he hates people who fooled him. So, my prime minister do somthing to punish this word-swallowing action of Thailand.

Thai (administrative) court? what the f**k is it? it sounds something like Thais organised interesting Lakhorn.

Shannon my friend like you "if we agree to concede land", but we don't. Cambodia said that the land is not included in the enlisting.

I don't think this article will do any good to the Siam, you know it's like preaching to monkeys.

"The line was drawn by the French in 1904, ..."

That's the root of the problem right there. This is not France, and they had no business drawing anything here; moreover their kangaroo court had no jurisdiction over the area whatsoever, especially when they are no longer here.

Sam Rainsys autobiography: Rooted in stone

La version franaise se trouve la fin du texte anglais
Rooted in Stone -
My struggle for the revival of Cambodia

By Sam Rainsy
Ravaged by genocide, coveted by powerful and predatory neighbors, submitted to a corrupt nomenklatura, choked by a neo-feudal regime, Cambodia is a martyr country, and no one knows this better than Sam Rainsy. Born into a patrician family in Phnom Penh, close to King Norodom Sihanouk, young Rainsy lived an opulent life but then also lived through decline, when his father, a major politician, was brutally dismissed and had to live in hiding before being assassinated.

Taking refuge in Paris, the Sam family resigned themselves to live as poor immigrants. However, they never lost their hope or dignity. A gifted student, Rainsy undertook brilliant studies that led him to become a high level finance expert, specializing in mergers and acquisitions for the luxury industry

But, how could he be happy earning money and making money for others, when his country was sinking into cruelty in the hands of a regime practicing mass murder? From humanitarian action in Paris for the victims of the Khmer Rouge regime to election campaigns in the field following the fall of the communists, Rainsy and Saumura, his wife, launch themselves into political action, taking over the torch from their respective fathers, both of whom were signatories of the 1954 Geneva agreements on Indochina.

However, for these two westernized Cambodians, their return home was rough. Facing with difficulties, aggressions, and even assassination attempts, Rainsy countered them with Buddhist-like pacifism, while constantly seeking for calm and compromise. Becoming the Minister of Economy in the first post-war mandate government, he was able to bring order to the State finances which earned him more hostilities. It was in the opposition that he found his calling when he founded a democratic and liberal party involved in the defense of freedom. Facing the unleashing of violence prompted by such provocation, Rainsy stays the course, unperturbed and smiling, unshakable and frugal, just like the trees deeply rooted in the stones of the Angkor temples.

In May 2008, Sam Rainsys 300-page long autobiography detailing his struggle for the revival of Cambodia, Rooted in stone, will be published in France by Calmann-Lvy. This book can be pre-ordered through SRP-France at a cost of 20 euros, or 22.97 euros including shipping.

The Khmer and English version of the book will be published in the following months.

The world map including Thailand was drawn up by the French and the British empire!

So what if the French and the British are no longer here! Does the Thai want to undo the world map and take the whole world back to 16 century? Does the Thai want to play cat and mouse game with international community?

By the way that what Saddam Hussein did by invading Kuwiat claiming it to be the 19th province of Iraq. The international community responsed by joining military force and ejected Saddam Hussein from Kuwait!

The international community had shown that any aggression is not rewarded!

If the Thai want to behave like Saddam Hussien and let them and they will bear the consequence and face the international community condemnation!

11:55pm, hey, irrelevant whether they like the 1904 treaty or not, who are they to say? treaties are like lawful order that both sides agreed to at the time, it's not just a joke like the siem thugs think it is. plus, here's another scenerio just for the fun of it: take the 1904 treaties or the old map of the khmer empire which in this case encompassed most of present-day thailand, laos and vietnam. so, which one would they rather pick, the 1904 treaties or the khmer empire map that belongs to the khmer people of cambdoia which are considered historical map in world history, by the way. the khmer empire map will never disappear just like the roman empire, the greek civilization, etc... if anyone study world history, they will see the khmer empire maps. so there!

oh, plus, if they still complain about that, then i dare thailand to take cambodia to icj again and see how the international laws that govern international boundaries all over the world work. maybe, most siem people need a wake up call for they seem ignorant to the world outside of thailand. they used to say that about cambodia, now it's their turn? what goes around comes around! god bless cambodia.

12:46, that is what we are trying to do. I mean to work thing out ourself without interference from anymore Westerners. Get it? We are not baby and we don't need help from them in that area.

1:34, stop being so ignorant. Not all Khmer wants to be ruled by Cambodia. Therefore, the Khmer empire can't be in business as usual. It is still here but in four major pieces: That is Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. You never going to get the Khmer in Thailand to submit to Cambodia ruling, or vice versa. You never going get the Khmer in Laos to submit to Cambodia ruling, or vice versa; and no shit, that including Ah Khmer-Yuon as well. But there is nothing wrong with the Khmer Empire being separate. Just think of it this way, not all Khmer girls will want to married to you, and you can't forced them submit to you by stealing their clothing, money, ..., or whatever; get it?

1:40am, this is not how the world operate as much as you want to keep western countries out. everyone in the world needs justice and this is why the world operate this way. are you educated to know this, if you are, you should know better. the world is not in the dark ages anymore; we now have airplanes, ships etc., and it just keeps on getting more advance for traveling and living. so, get with the program, again, whether you like it or disagree with the world or whatever, your feeling is irrelevant, to say the least. that is the law and the entire world community expect thailand to respect that. maybe if there's only thailand and its siem people on the planet, then what you are saying can be true. otherwise, stop violating the international laws. people like your thinking are the reason we have laws in the first place. everything happens for a good reason. so, there!

To 1:53AM

Hey Thaicong bitch! You forgot to mention that not all Thai want to be rule by the Thai! The same to the Thai girl and no all Thai girl want to marry to a Thaiman!

So what is your fucken point?

Anonymous said...

i'm sure glad the world doesn't think like the siem thugs! god bless cambodia.

To 1:40AM

You Thaicong bitch are a cry baby and a sore loser!

What do you mean by working "ourself"? Cambodia had worked with international court in the past and Cambodian will continue to work with international court in the future!

You should be talking to international court mother fucker!

1:53am, whateve!!! we all know you're a she-devil or a she-bitch because only she-bitches talk like that!!! you cry too!!! knuckle head! god bless cambodia.

2:02, the same go for Cambodia. Not all Khmer in Cambodia want to be ruled by Cambodia either. If given a chance to go to Thailand freely, I bet Cambodia will be empty in just a few short weeks. Get my point, now?

Anonymous said...

Khmer Kings did not build the Khmer temple for the Thai people and certainly not in Thailand. The Hague Int'l court of justice knows that and I hope the UNESCO would agreed.

Anonymous said...

Well that is the problem. The Kangaroo court is ignorant about Khmer people in Thailand. Just because they are a Thai citizen, it doesn't mean they are Chinese, not even close, maybe Indian, yes. That is how bad the corrupted court was.

Anonymous said...

To 3:25AM

Yeah...I get your point now! Since the Vietcong withdrew their troop from Cambodia and Cambodia has 8 million people. But now Cambodia has 14 million people!

I had the chance to visit the Thaicong land and I certainly wouldn't want to live there! I don't know what you are talking about! How about you and why don't you go to live in Thailand since you said it yourself!

Anonymous said...

Why should I move to Thailand, when Thailand could move to me instead, 4:50?

Anonymous said...

Shannon and James, you guys are the BESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Please continue to speak on what is right and just so that the culprits (Thais) will learn that people around the world will not put up with their nonsense regarding the temple that is DISTINCTIVELY Khmer culturally and the disputed 4.6 square km.

Again Thank you both.

6:04,
YOU SAID IT! YOU FUCKING THIEF!

Anonymous said...

Thief? Look at who talking? FYI, I am not the one who climb up a 600 meter high cliff and claimed that the temple and the surrounding are belong to me.

if anything, all cambodia has to do is show unesco the entire icj verdict of 1962 if unesco is still don't know what to do. this same dispute was settled since 1962. of course the losers siem thieves felt bad about it. well, icj prevailed, didn't it? and statue of limitation was 10 years and had since expired now that it's been 46 years. on top of that, there is no new evidence by thailand. i hope unesco will uphold the icj verdict once and for all. god bless cambodia.

THAI ANCESTORS are too greedy so that we have GREEDY THAI here now. STUPID action thai!!

Yeah, but Thai people don't care about the Temple, only us (Khmer) in Thailand living near the temple care about losing our temple to cold blooded robber.
