The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has called for a peaceful resolution to a dangerous border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia.
She said the deployment of hundreds of troops on either side of the border over the past 10 days has been an issue of concern at 27-nation security talks between Asian ministers and world powers in Singapore.
“It is something that has been a subject of discussion. We are concerned about it and there needs to be a way to resolve it peacefully,” she told reporters outside the ASEAN Regional Forum meeting.
“We’ll continue to consult with the regional states... We’re going to be very guided very heavily by the views of the countries in this region.”
The territorial dispute is expected to be discussed later today at the UN Security Council after Cambodia called for the world body to help resolve the issue.
Thailand has resisted outside mediation, and talks earlier this week among foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, including Thailand and Cambodia, failed to ease tensions.

Thank you Ms. Rice! It's rediculous to the bone. Wanting power in politic is one thing, destroying another country's peace and stability is another.
Look at Mr. Sam Rainsey, he's still struggling just about every move to get pass the racist bar and win more ballots in Cambodia on July 27th, all because he used one wrong word " Youn" Vietnam in Khmer's vocabulary. It didn't even mean anything, but it interpreted as racist to many. Can you believe that? Good luck PAD! you pal will find out very soon, what it means to keep peace and friendly relation, business going with your neighbors. Just like us and you'll sorry. It's Business Corporation Time, not yours! and you don't mean a damm thing in the end!!! Most people that want to do business and growing aren't going to give a sh*t about you and you'll be lost. Worse, yet you're in hell. Get ready!
What Mr. Sam Rainsey should do is campagne with the viets who love peace and freedom. He will surprise to know how many would stay loyal to their uncle Ho. Many are about to choke of his Communist sh*t.
P.S
Don't forget, those must be Khmer citzen. Cann't vote cann't win and cann't hear, if they aren't Khmer.
Who ever won this election. This person should take illlegal immigration issue seriously. They are many chineses and vietnames are over the city, very soon Cambodian will be a place like Champa or Kampuchia Krom. I don't have problem with foreigner come to bring the bussiness the country but They must have a proper paper. If they choose to stay in the contry, they must passed all national test and obey the regulation of the nation and local.
If the CPP wins again, There won't be any changes, but curruptions continue to run like a flooded river. For there are more and more vietnamese members in this CPP govt.
Khmer and cambodia cannot afford another five years of the CPP.
It seems that Ms. Rice is not concerned enough. Save the ASEAN you will need them for sure in the future.
No Cambodia problem we do respect your choice.
The Hun Sen government should get military materials for our troops we need to repel this invasion.
We did take the right way to resolve this peacefully, it's never enough for them.
On July 27th, vote for HUN SEN
