Temple Group Announced on Eve of Decision

A local foundation announced Monday the creation of a committee to support people living near the contentions border temple of Preah Vihear.

The Preah Vihear committee was announced by the Khmer Civilization Foundation the day before a decision on the temple's World Heritage status is expected.

Cambodian officials are seeking the temple's inclusion on Unesco's World Heritage protection list, a move that has made the structure the focal point of increased tension between Thailand and Cambodia.

A 1962 International Court ruled the temple belonged to Cambodia, but the surrounding borders are still in dispute. Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Bangkok in the wake of the temple's application, claiming a Thai agreement to allow Cambodia to forward the request was tantamount to a cessation of land. A Thai court subsequently issued on injunction of Thai support for Cambodia's application

Moeung Son, the founder of the Khmer Civilization Foundation, said plans are in place to build a hospital near the cliff-top temple. The Foundation, which operates through independent funding from Cambodian residents and expatriates, will hold an inaugural ceremony Friday.

Hong Soth, director of the government's Preah Vihear National Authority, said the authority had not yet recognized the foundation.

The Foundation will meet with former king Norodom Sihanouk Wednesday to discuss plans to build a hospital, named after the former monarch, near the temple.

The World Heritage Committee, which is currently meeting in Canada, is expected to announce a decision on the temple's protection status Tuesday.

It's better to turn the area into a biggest stinky land fill. That way we (Khmer in Issan) don't have to look at Ah Fake Khmer in Cambodia.

As a Cambodian people, I will never buy Thai products, I will never use Thai service or even visit Thai.

They are GREEDY to get Khmer Territory.

You got it backward. We (Khmer in Thailand) did not steal anything from Cambodia. It is the Fake Infidel Khmer who steal lands and temple from us.

yes, my dear compatriots, action speaks louder than words. thank you for upholding the icj verdict that the preah vihear temple is khmer's and will always be khmer's. and thank you for making preah vihear and area accessible from the cambodian side and thank you for stop isolating and depending on thailand for access to our temple. our temple has been isolated for too long since it was built; it is now time to take care of our khmer ancestral temple, to include preah vihear and all others khmer temples tegacy all over cambodia. and please continue to educate the entire world everything about our country, cambodia, so we can be well-known to the rest of the world. god bless cambodia and all our beautiful khmer people.

So now, I wonder what's the Thai strategy would be ?

They will cry to sleep and perhap start HUNGER STRIKE.

Well, we (Khmer in Issan) can't let you profit from our temple by yourself. We don't care if you want to keep the temple, all we want is a joint development so that we can get some benefit too, or else no one will get anything. And if that is not reasonable to you, then tough luck.

Anonymous said...

Alright. If the Thai wants joint development, fine. You must move away from Khmer border at least 4.6km. We'll place a joint border gate 4.6km from the Preah Vihear perimeter. Have regards and respect holy Khmer ancestral land. Be nice to Khmer or we'll shut the gate and close the access from your side. This is a joint development term.

1:41AM....I thought you did care for sometimes. What makes up your mind? You'll see that our Khmers in Cambodia are nicer than you guys by letting you guys to visit the temple and help mange it under the ownership of Cambodia. It shows that we are not greedy like your friends - the tais. You are welcome any time, nude.

Once Cambodia settle down with all its interior issue we will continue one by one reclaim our lands back.

HUN SEN have a dream will take our brother from Thailand back.

Khmer will win over SIAM no matter what.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but we don't want to visit the Temple, we want to develop the temple and the area for profit for both sides. Trust us, you'll love it. What you got to lose?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but we don't want to come back to Ah Kvack.

Look guys, we need not to live under one roof to be happy. We had done that, and it didn't work. There are lot we can achieve together by being under separate roof. Just look at how we help Cambodia to move along, and you aint seen nothing yet.

Therefore, don't let your eye deceives you, brah, we will not left you behind.

1:50, don't worry about the 4.6 sq Km. There are lot of profits for both sides. We'll split 50/50 all the way.

Anonymous said...

I am 1:50am, said 4.6 km away from the perimeter of temple -- that is where the frontier. I didn't say "4.6sq km". Those 4.6sq is Khmer land. The Thai has to move away from it.

2:21 and 2:24

Are you implying that Khmers in Issan are thais????
It seems like you are rooting for a joint proposal by Cambodia and Thailand of Preah Vihear's inscription as a world heritage site. Although it's too late now, but you could have said that you supported the effort to have a joint proposal between the Cambodian gvt and Khmer in Issan, not Thailand.
And i don't see any thais protesting in the name of Khmer in Issan either. That's why i find your comments in here quite comical.

One more thing i want to make sure is that you don't represent all the Khmers in Issan. So don't try to act as their representative. It just makes them look bad.

And to all the posters in here,

Please ignore this guy. The more you reply to him, the more insane is his response. I don't understand why we all have to pay attention to this single person.
He represents no one but himself.

You ignorant idiot (3:01), Issan is a province, not a country. And that doesn't mean there is no Khmer living there. And as a province it can't represent itself to the UN. Thailand must do everything for its Issan province.

Anonymous said...

2:39, indeed the 4.6 km or 46 km is Khmer land, but it belongs to Khmer in Issan province, not Khmer in Cambodia. They don't live there.

Anonymous said...

We must stop Ah Fake Khmer in Cambodia from using the word "Khmer" to steal land and temple from Khmer people in the neighboring country. They are not Khmer. Just look at their king: what a joke?

11:38,
How does one called themselves Khmer when one is residing in Thailand? WTF, is that all about? You have no shame? Wouldn't that categorize as treasons? Khmer-Thai, that two names doesn't go together. I'm a little confuse! So, seriously...... are you Khmer or Thai? Have you been brainwashed by the Thai, since you lived there for so long? If you can distinguished the different between Khmer and Thai border..... I suggest you get your ass back here. Otherwise, don't you dare call yourself Khmer live in Thai. Or we will label you as a TRAITORS!!

Anonymous said...

11:38,
Another thing! You can't steal stuff that's already belong to you.

What kind of logical reasoning are you working with?

Though, I do wanted to remind you tomorrow as you go on your everyday lives, that socks first before shoes. Good luck!!

1:28,
They will bring this issue back up again in 46 years.
You just can't reasons with them, therefore the next time they brought this up....... we will destroy them!

LMAO!!

1:35,
In that case, I will force feed them with a steel pipe. lol

Khmer can live anywhere they pleased, Ah Jkout (10:54.)

Anonymous said...

1:41,
What are you going to do? Put a lock on it? lol

Anonymous said...

3:01,
I totally agree with you on this. To the eyes of ICJ, UNESCO and the entire world..... Khmer is only one nation. It's hard as it is for the world to recognized us Cambodia as a country as it is, much less tried to divide the entire Cambodia into Khmer-surin and Khmer-isaan? I say, if your last name is KHMER than that's all it matter. Who gives a damned about your middle initials!

Khmer in Unity!

11:14, we will turned the area into a sewage processing area. I don't think you will be able to breed the Indochinese waste.
