Thai police and villagers block access to Preah Vihear temple to anti-Thai gov't protesters

Police and villagers block a convoy of nationalist protesters from reaching a disputed ancient temple on the country's border with Cambodia, 700 km (435 miles) northeast of Bangkok July 17, 2008. A political uproar in Thailand over Cambodia's listing of the Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site has been stoked by anti-government groups seeking to oust Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's shaky ruling coalition. I am a half Khmer/Thai living in Thailand. I have told you many time that even we are thais citizen, we are still Khmers. Not all Thais and Khmers living there are against Cambodia or Thai government. Only the opposition parties members and their royalists supporters are. Don't listen to the self-acclaimed stupid Khmer-Issan here on KI forum. He does not represent the whole thailand society. In fact, he does not even represent the people living on the thai's side of the border near the temple. We can see from the pictures that people there are not happy with these stupid nationalists and royalists. They destroy these villagers livelihoods.

Move them illegal immigrants out of the way and send them back to Cambodia! The temple belongs to Khmer People in Issan Province. It was stolen by the French in the early 1900's, and it must be unconditionally return to its rightful owners immediately.

It's solely khmer. We are doing the right thing.

So do not claim or use Khmer issan. It's unacceptable to all khmer. the temple belong to marjority . 9 century until now , it's a very long time ... PEOPLE MOVED AROUND. it doesn't proove you build it. Understand it clearly , stupd jerk. it belong to marjority khmer.

If the issan poeple love Preah vihear , so much ... please stop the war!

Our khmer and laos issan brothers are standing up against these retards who seek to destroy the lively hood of the people in that region. Thais love to show case the culture of issan but they treat the people like dirt.

Dearest all the Khmer people inside Thailand. You must protect Mother Cambodia at all cost against the aggression of these Nan Chao Siems. You must say enough is enough to these Nan Chao Siems. They had detached too many of our ancestral Khmer provinces from Mother Cambodia through the ages. It is time that they stop their aggression. If we have to, we will dance in hell with these Siem hellish creatures. Khemara people, we must all stand up to the aggression of ah Nan Chao Siems. If we are going to die it is best that we die defending our Mother land, the heartland itself of the Khmer people.

These villagers are just caring about their business which is interupted by ultranationalist protesters. They are not standing up for khmer,.understand that all of you above? Khmer issan or Buriram, or whoever,,,they are Thai. They don't care what happens in Cambodia. Be noted that some of the thai troops who are entering Cambodia are ethnic khmers in Thailand.

This is crazy. These people need jobs .

i support you 100%. stay safe and we Khmer love you.

I think 6:51 has a keen observation. So they are protecting their livelihood and business, I C. So they are no longer ethnic Khmer people? I also note that some of the Thai troopers look exactly like the Khmer people. So why are they serving under ah Nan Chao rule for? Are they malay, mons, or burmese, perhaps. I don't know. I only know this any Khmer traitors serving ah nan chao Siems must all go down with ah Siems if they no longer care for the protection of Cambodia.

No, 6:51, the Khmer in Issan Province are nice enough to settle on joint development. Why are you insisting on taking everything for yourself. Whoever taught you that? Let me guess, the Infidel, right? If that is so, they are only try to get you to get into a war so that they can sell junk arms and ammunitions, and you know it too.

7:42 AM...If we have to go to war for protecting our temple from being stolen by the Thais, let it be it. Want joint management? Go back to school and learn to speak and write Khmer first because we don't speak Thai. Issan province does not exist you stupid. This is how the thai teach you? Pretend to be something that does not exist. If you are nice, go and stop the thai solders.

You should care about your country, right now the World is watching the Siam madness.

Samak is in damage control mode and he want to pull the Siam troop out of Cambodia territory, before the UN does.

If the Siam were intelligent a bit, they would know that Siamland rating for foreign investment is diminish even more.

I want to teach you and your ignorant clan that "Thai was known as Siam. They were ethnic Chinese descending from Southern part of ancient China. They invaded Khmer territory and took several provinces from khmer. In early 1900's, Thai invaded hmer again and took Siemreap (including Preah Vihea Temple), Battambang, kampong Thom, half of Pursat, Stung Treng, and Rattanak Kiri. In 1947, Khmer got those provinces back with the help of France. In 1962, Hague International Court gave Preah Vihea back to Khmer. Stop claiming nonsense. There are millions of Khmer ethnic live in current Thai because of those invasions. If you are really Thai from china, you and you clan need to handle all Khmer land to Khmer people. Aren't you ashamed of stealing Khmer land?
