Director-General of the Information Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tharit Charungvat, says a committee consisting of representatives of seven countries does not have the responsibility to negotiate on the management of the 4.6-kilosquare-meter overlapping area at Preah Vihear.
The director-general says the committee’s work concerns only the protection and development of the Preah Vihear temple.
Chairman of the national committee on Thailand’s World Heritage sites, Pongpol Adireksarn, has earlier said that he supports the establishment of the seven-country committee as he believes that it can resolve rows over the management of the overlapping area. The director-general says Mr Pongpol’s remark caused a misunderstanding about the committee’s responsibility.

bullshit, thailand. there is no dispute as the icj verdict settled this once and for all since 1962. this is a contempt of court by thailand for disrespect the icj verdict. the 7-member unesco assigned team should uphold icj verdict in this matter once and for all. thailand is falsifying the claim that their territory is at the gate of the temple, it is not in accordance to the icj verdict which for the same reason that they are claiming that our king sihanouk took thailand to court and won for the very same case we are talking here now. so, nothing is new for thailand and the 4.6km2 area is cambodia's just take a look at the icj verdict to answer any doubt or to settle any more dispute in this area of cambodia where preah vihear is located. enough already, thailand. take them to court for contempt of court, period, no more excuses or bullshit from them.
let the icj deal with thailand, cambodia has nothing more to say with them. plus, unesco is the world body, so tell thailand to respect the international court of justice verdict, seriously! thailand think money can buy cambodia or something; it's all in the mind, don't allow it to happen, cambodia, our land is priceless, period.
and one more thing, all khmer people can help to protest thailand by reminding them to respect the icj verdict as thailand needs help with this as they can seem to understand the international laws or something. and don't wait for mr. hun sen or whom ever to take action; be proactive is the key word, cambodia. if we wait for mr. hun sen or others to take action, remember the saying in khmer: ber ter see ache, neak aeng see ache del reu? in other words, don't follow bad examples for everyone has one, i'm sure. just take the good examples and toss away the bad ones. thank you and god bless cambodia and khmer people.
