Boonsang: land at Ta Moan Thom belongs to us

(BangkokPost.com) - The Supreme Commander, Gen Boonsang Niampradit, said he handed a letter to the Cambodian authority, stating that the land at the 13th century Ta Moan Thom temple belongs to Thailand. Cambodia has accused Thai troops of occupying a second sacred temple on the Thai-Cambodian border.

Gen Boonsang said the Thai army and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will have to discuss and work out the dispute involving the 11th century Preah Vihear temple. He said the army is providing relevant information for the Foreign Ministry for consideration before negotiating with the Cambodian counterpart.

The Supreme Commander said the decision to lessen or withdraw Thai soldiers from the ancient temples will have to be discussed, as the matter is sensitive, complex, and would affect the stability of both nations.

The Foreign Ministry can assess the situation better than the army, Gen Boonsang claimed.

Prasat Ta Muen Thom - a tug of war between Cambodia & Thailand
If you're not aware, one of my biggest passions is visiting ancient Khmer temples, dotted around the Cambodian countryside. However, there are a series of Khmer temples in northeast Thailand that I have yet to visit so I was particularly interested in a report from Radio Free Asia's correspondent Kim Pov Sottan yesterday - the full report is in the Comments section - which highlighted the issue surrounding the 12th century Angkorean temple of Prasat Ta Muen Thom - which is in fact three ruined structures all with the same name - in a location that seems to be on the very border between Cambodia and Thailand. If you speak to the Khmers in the locality, they'll tell you that the temple is Cambodian and that the Thai's have stolen it in the last few years, whilst the Thai's have assumed responsibility for the temple and built a paved road for easy access for visitors. The report from RFA suggested that even the Thai military commmander for the area claims that the temple is in a 'white zone' which is technically a disputed, no-man's land. Cambodia has experienced border disputes with Thailand and Vietnam over many years and the long drawn-out process to resolve them and agree on the exact position of the border markers is frustratingly slow. Cambodia has a history of disputing temple ownership with Thailand, with Preah Vihear being the most publicized but Prasat Ta Muen Thom is important in it's own right and if both countries are claiming ownership, somehow the deadlock needs to be broken. At the moment, Thailand is in possession and Cambodians are left to peer over the fence at this reminder of their glorious past

You idiots prolong the time and play in this game, then you idiots are willing to lose more and more. Perhaps you personally gain the power, the title as prime minister, and your clans in your seepeepee live happily and comfortably; But YOUR NAME WILL BE CALLED TRAITORS ALONG WITH YOUR CLIQUES AND CLANS; AND PEOPLE LEARN THIS: WE ARE IN THE CYCLE OF OUR KHMER HISTORY-BECAUSE OF POWER, SELF-INTEREST, POOR ATTITUDE AND SHORT-SIGHTED VISION AS A LEADER FOR THE SAKE OF OWNS, AND NARROW-MINDED TO WISE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICIZM; WE KHMER HAVE FALLEN FROM LIVING IN THE EMPIRE AND SEEMINGLY LIVE AS ALIEN ON OUR MOTHER-EXISTED CAMBODIA LAND!!!!!

We Khun Thais understand very well the spirit of your leaders who need only money and Power within kampuchea, he is strong man in Campuchea but weak with khun thais and Khun viet.....
we claim Preah viharn, ta man and others untill we return all to thais belongings and help the strong man in Power for half more century.... we again return Siam Rap, Badambang Posat..to our territory too...and use your leaders to be Priministers in this country forever under Thais Colony...

We Khun Thais learned a lot about the tactics, bad tricks of kampuchean administration applied with campuchean people to take over lands/land grabing and other properties.. so we used this trick/tactics to gain from Campuchia too... and we will win surely and Campuchea Army chief and leaders do not dare to fight with thais,,,,, please be sure sure we guarantee.. remember ...
Campuchea has no opportunity to protect territory they just fight within their country in Power Contest..
You see when just start of StandOff Cam-army has no equipment weapon and food to support army just Collecting from people, this is not sustainable...
And why Army Chief and high Rank officials are very Rich...
Campuchea is a most corrupted country so that we thais can buy any thing including its territory.....

Prah viharn, Prasat Tamuan, Cham sagnam and Koh Kong Halek etc.. de jure and de facto belong to thailand because more percent of thais people have chance to visit the sites, and all modern infrastructure/raod are well connected from Thailand and mostly are constructed and developed by Thailand.
Kham do nothing with those prasats...letf them lonelyspare for long time.

Prasat Ta Moan Toch, Prasat Ta Moan Thom, the fire of Ta Moan and Prasat Preah Vihear are all belonging to Khmer people of Cambodia.

Thailand accepted the Franco-Siam treaties in 1930 which included all these above Khmer temples inside of Cambodia territory.

Thais are a bunch of thieves, they make a fake map by their own and they claimed these Prasat Khmer belonging to Thais without shame.

I am an American from the United States. All I have to say according to the history is that Ta Moan Touch, Ta Moan Thom, and the Prasat Preah Vihear were built by the Khmer (Cambodian poeople), and it is on the Khmer territory (land), so therefore; it must belongs to the Khmer people.

If the Prasat Preah Vihear, Ta Moan Touch, Ta Moan Thom, and Ta Krobey are all built by the Khmer (Cambodian) people, and on Khmer (Cambodian)land, then why are they disputing over these Ancient Khmer (Cambodian) ruins? It is soooo obvious to anyone...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out...heck, even an 8 year old kid can tell you who it all should go to!!!!!...They all should go to the Khmer (Cambodian) people!!!...The Thais should back off!!!!!!...Thai people should be ashamed of themselves for trying to claim what is not theirs!!!!!!
