PHNOM PENH, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The long-awaited anti-corruption draft law has been finalized and will be given to the National Assembly (NA) shortly after the new government is formed next month, English-Khmer language newspaper the Cambodia Daily said Monday.
"We have finished the (anti-corruption draft) law. When the penal code is approved, we will submit the anti-corruption (draft law) to avoid any changes," Khieu Kanharith, Information Minister and government spokesman, was quoted as saying at a press conference here Sunday.
The decision to turn over the draft law to the assembly will likely be made at the first cabinet meeting of the new government, which is scheduled to be formed shortly after NA convenes on Sept. 24, he added.
Anti-corruption legislation first reached the assembly in 1994 but has never been passed. The government has placed much of the blame for the delay on the lack of an updated criminal code, saying that such legislation must first be adopted.
Cambodia just concluded its general election in July and the new government is expected to be established one month later.

This CPP is so funny.
Lastly, the chief of cabinet of Hun Sen, Cheam Yeap, has saided that we already have a law of anti-corruption. Which is against the others parties and NGO point of views.
Now, they said that they have draw a law...
Freak CPP.
Where are cambodians now with the actual's government???
Khmer Canadian
I doesn't matter at least we have something to build upon.
I never see some people satisfy with what the CPP have done. Come on! even you hate CPP, you must know what it does correct also. Know how to complain and know how to appreciate also.
When CPP show their will to adopt the anti-corruption law, we all should support this CPP act, and push it to finish faster. Not only blame and blame, know only how to blame, even the act will contribute to good future of the nation.
Fool you must be brainwashed and just got out of mental rehab.!!!! How many times CPP promised you stupid with the presence of anti-corruption law???? How many years the anti-corruption law sleep in the air-conditioned draw??????? And why were many PEOPLE got killed because they spoke the "TRUTH" OF THE ANARCHIC SYSTEM OF CAMBODIA???
IF EVER CPP LEARN TO CONDUCT WORK BY STANDARD, IT WOULD ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THIS COUNTRY IS RULED LAWLESSLY AND IN VULGAR MANNER OF A BUNCH OF SHORT-SIGHTED, POWER-ADDICTED LEADERS.
When you ruled the country at will as a one-show man like the CPP has done during the last few decades, then any anti-corruption law will be passed merely as an attempt to fool our hungry people and the world. Of course, to get more loans and donations from the outside world. Five more years of the CPP ruling and five more years of bankcrupt our nation. Cambodia soon will be on the foreclosure list.
You have government, Democratie,... what else do u want? Anti-corruption law??? You got it. Hah, Hah..
The question is will that law works for us or for them? If you were them will you create something to protect yourself or kill yourself ? Don't dream too much. Unless they are all willing to change for better otherwise hah, hah....
Anticorruption law alone is not enough . Look at election system is funny. Will they willing to change this election system ? NO, NO. From Governors to Ministers all are appointed and a lifetime job for those who know how.
