The Ministry of Interior has formed an "investigation committee" to determine how to move forward in the murder case of opposition journalist Khim Sambor, an official said Tuesday.

The ministry has received a letter from the FBI, but the investigation committee will decide how the FBI can help, said Interior Ministry spokesman Lt. Gen. Khieu Sopheak told VOA Khmer.

The ministry has requested the help of the FBI, but US officials said this week they were still waiting for a specific responses on how the US agency might help the investigation.

"We're still waiting," former US ambassador Joseph Mussomeli told reporters before leaving the country Monday. "We are still awaiting from the police a list of exactly what they think they need from us."

"We have very good ideas of what they need from us, and we are sharing that as well," Mussomeli said.

The FBI could help, for example, through the use of a sketch artist or forensic specialists, US Embassy spokesman John Johnson said Tuesday.

Khim Sambor was shot dead in Phnom Penh on July 11, along with his son, two weeks ahead of national elections. No suspect has been arrested.

On this earth there is no God...only in the state of mind of everyone believe in it! there's no justice or anything...there is no "do good get good do bad get bad!" no karma!!! we all seen the fact it happened in the past and everyday anyway the bad guys are ahead in every way! and get away easily of their act! I believe in opportunity and timing and the law of the jungle: THE STRONG SURVIVE AND THE WEAK DIES simple as that!

Disagreed! There is true justice in Cambodia, and those who assaulted Cambodia Democracy will be accountable for their crime soon or later.

8:06,
Very true! Through out this century our Khmer people spent too much time at home as well as the temple praying. What do we get in returns? Not a god damn thing! I think all Khmer should learn by now that there is no such thing as Karma, God and whom ever that they pray to. Instead, move on with our daily lives and make the best of it. Time spent for praying is time wasted! If we work as hard as we pray...... I think our life is better off.

Hi 8:06am it is sad to see THE STRONGEST SURVIVE AND THE WEAKEST DIE, but this karma existed only in Cambodia because of the uneducated, stupid former Khmer Rouge leaders.

You and me are living to die I don't know why so many people are so greedy and selfish. Probably most of Cambodian people have brought up in that sort of culture, they professed themselves as Buddhist but in reality they are not at all.

The teaching of Buddha is very good and make sense. Taught people to be patient and kind to one another, no killing, no committing adultery, no stealing nor lying, and no consuming drugs.

As I have noticed 95% of Cambodian people are living contradicted to the teaching of Buddha.

Does everyone know the teaching of Buddha saying that; if you are born rich and noble, you must have to be kind and generous to others, you have to share with and care for the poor and the needy in order to be reborn in the noble and rich place again.

What happen if you did not care and share your fortune with the poor and needy? The scripture said ; after your death you will be judged and sent to be reborn with those poor families. Not only that if you suppressed the poor or grabbed the land of the poor, you are not only have to be reborn as a child of those poor people but to be reborn as a dog of those poor and hungry people.

What do you consider of yourself for your next life?

I believe that Hun Sen will be reborn to be a dog of those poor and hungry people with lice and ticks all over his body scratching with bleeding days and nights for hundred times of his recycle life.

You should consider a career as a philosophy teacher.

So who come first the egg or the chicken?

Do you think that the US will allow the FBI to solve the case and jeopardize the US national interests and erode the relations between the two nations?

The case will be probed, but will not be solved by the FBI.

12:09,
What you post is proof of no such things as Karma so on and so forth. Sroak Khmer is what it is today because Khmer choose to sit and pray and hope that their daily prayers would someday came true. We have to ask ourselves "As much prayers as we have done in the past,....... shouldn't it come true already?"
Sometime wake up and smell the coffee is a beautiful thing!
