The Phnom Penh Post
THE Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) is seeking a new location for its headquarters because the owner of the current Sothearos Boulevard site, who is also a senior SRP official, wants to reclaim his land.
SRP Deputy President Kong Korm told the Post that the move has nothing to do with internal party politics, but is happening because he wants to rent or sell the 5,000-square-meter property. "This is my house. I now need to look for some kind of income," Korm added.
The site has been used as SRP's headquarters for more than 10 years with the party only paying for electricity and water, Kong Korm said. "The move is likely to begin after National Assembly and government have been convened."
"I already told President Sam Rainsy about it when he came back from France in May. He is prepared to move," Kong Korm said.
The SRP is currently seeking a new location for its head offices in Phnom Penh's southern suburbs, Kong Korm said.
Sam Rainsy could not be reached for comment about the move.

Cambodia of uncertainty: economic is booming, but sovereignty is dooming
Cambodian peoples might be so happy with the economic growth of at least 7.00% annually. But in reality, this growth is just the shadow of failure because the inflation is soaring up to 10-15%. The fruits from this growth is not equally distributed. 80% of Cambodian farmers are significantly deteriorated by this growth.
1. The social gap is appearing every aspect of Cambodian society. The poor and the rich is gradually widened from such tricky economic boom. Many poor children quit school because they cannot afford to pay tips for teachers.
Private schools are booming to attract the rich children while poor children are dooming under the act of teachers who receive unjust salary in public schools.
There are many expensive cars such as lexus and land cruisers drive across dumped street children and beggar children.
2. Cambodia has become the "Police State"since the failure of UN to crack down this tactical structure. Vietnam invaded Cambodia in 7 January 1979 to structure Cambodia society as a Police State. They withdrew the uniform military because their bottom structuring was complete. Currently, this structure is gradually strengthening. Major Cambodian policemen are Vietnamese by origin who have been well trained to carry gun to safeguard Cambodian citizens.
How can we say Cambodia is free and independent when Cambodia has foreigners to safeguard our peace and security?
3. National election is just the political game to legitimize Police State leader. By conducing votes, the Police State leader can legally claim their leadership and inspire more aids to last their power.
Their power and wealth are not only gained by exploiting national treasures but also accrue from the foreign aids and loans. New acceptance of decentralization and good governance only sustain their power to last forever.
4. Cambodian peoples should not be easily deceived by the Khmer Rouge brutality. How good is it when communists come to free us from another communists? They both are communist. Their characteristic is still communist and their leadership is absolute. How is different between Khmer Rough communist and Vietnamese communist? It is different only the color (red & white) but the nature of these two communists are totalitarianism regime.
Khmer Rough regime is passed, no KR regime will come to power again; and during KR regime, Khmer can protect its border land. White communist Vietnam is foreigner and this country has long time attempted to swallow Cambodia. Now their ambition is on the right track.

My speculation is that the Kon Kum is about to depart from SRP, the ground is that, if for the reason of generating income for him then he can alternatively ask the party to pay for the rent according to the market price. No, that may not be..
If he wants the land for sale, it means he might have been facing serious financial difficulty or he is tired or dissappointed with his political future and might want to rely on other ways of life. If happen in this way, then he is ready to depart.
If he was contacted by his former party CPP, regardless the threats or luring or buying, then this is final possibility of the speculation of his departure.
Not matter what reasons he goes, a good reputation left for the SRP members would be expected, senior politicians will not normally walk the way of the those lower levels.
The weather is always changeable, so human values too. Cambodia is not an unchangeable nation, even it people.
I have two motivations regarding Mr. Korm's move:
1- It's undiniable that he's the former foreign minister of Hun Sen's govt. during the 1980s. As CPP speculated since the begining that Mr. Rainsy would be main rival for Hun Sen's CPP in the long run, thus managing him to join SRP was the CPP's tactic to put Mr. Rainsy's political move on CPP's political map... Thus, Mr. Rainsy would never frame his power in his political life. And when time comes, Mr. Korm will leave SRP and put SRP in a diificult position...Now it's clear for his move... To make it a clear picture, there's a practice in CPP's internal and secrete regulation. Key members are taken key position sin the govt. followed seniority in the party. As Long as Mr. Namhong remains in FM position, Mr. Korm will not be seen to take that post. But now, Namhong's FM post is saken due to his age of over 70...Likely, he is reappointed to FM for 2 more years for the 4th terms of Hun Sen's govt. When Namhong left in the near future, Korm will be replaced. From this point of view, Mr. Korm's move now could prove it.
2- Second motivation is that by contrast, Mr. Korm's move at this point meant that he foresees no hope for SRP to take power in any near future as CPP has grown stronger from one election to another... Korm is getting old, but his political carrier couldn't prove any success. So, why he has to waste time with SRP. This proved the same move of Mr. Eng Chhay Eang a few days ago. His land granted for SRP headquater over 10 years could make him a rich man if he invest it...However, it's not late for him as land price goes up sharply. It could be a presure from him family too...
Wait and see, what's next for SRP...
Why most Khmer politicians now do not care about leaving their names in the history?
Please keep on trying! Do resign!
