Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to reduce the number of troops at their common border in an attempt to reduce tension over the disputed Ta Muen Thom temple ruins.

The agreement was reached after a meeting between Cambodia's deputy defence minister and Thailand's second army commander responsible for security affairs in northeastern Thailand.

Thailand and Cambodia also agreed to open the barbed wire installed at the ruin on Thursday, to allow the military and residents of both countries to communicate and visit the Ta Muen Thom ruins.

Both countries also agreed to hold another meeting next Monday in the Thai resort town of Hua Hin.
