The International Republican Institute no longer finances the Voice of Democracy (VOD). The news came down on Saturday 30 August. This is important news because each year, the IRI provided $300,000 to this independent radio, i.e. almost the entire yearly budget for the VOD which amounts to $350,000. Pa Nguon Tieng, VOD director, assured that the IRI pullout will not lead to the VOD disappearance, nor to the firing of the 34 VOS staff members. “We will continue to broadcast normally. We have other sponsors who are willing to step in to fill the (IRI shoe),” Pa Nguon Tieng explained. Nevertheless, the latter refused to reveal the identity of his partners, similarly he will remain discreet on the reason of the departure of the IRI which remained at VOD’s side for the past five years. Um Sarin, President of the Cambodian Association for the Protection of Journalists, deplored the IRI pullout: “VOD is a quality radio program. The news media are the eyes of the democracy. The disengagement of the IRI constitutes a withdrawal at this level.” Voice of Democracy broadcasts its program on 5 stations: FM105 in Phnom Penh, FM90.25 in Battambang and Oddar Meanchey, FM95.5 in Siem Reap, FM88.5 in Kampong Thom.

It may stem from most republican in Cambodia are pure and simple arrogant and right out nasty in nature. Republican is good, if it's in the hand of good understanding people. This didn't seem to be the case here. Why republican when Cambodia can grow and be prosperous under the constitutional monarchy? Most people aren't really sure of this purpose at all. The country needs stability and it got its stability under the constitutional Monarchy. If the republican's vision is to take this out, half of the Cambodian will not be happy. We aren't talking about the revenge from the Lon Nol's Era here, are we? It's over! done! gone! and finished! 2 millions dead is enough!!! and King with no power is also enough!!! What are the republican trying to do? You need to calm your nerve down and behave. Just because, you won't have King or Queen looking over your head or in your dream, it deosn't mean you can always be a brat. You still have bussiness people all over the world to worry about and to keep the country going. You need to make Cambodia a safe place beyond your wildest dream, republican. This means peace for the royalty the non-royalty the rich the poor and the outsider or those investors from other countries. You need to get that into your head and understand that their hard earnt money isn't here to waste. It's depending on you! (the smartest gov. in Cambodia ) and if you want to be the next gov. of Cambodia, all of you dumb stupid and arrogant republican or whatever must think very carefully!!! Please look at Cambodia as the new world and it's the world of business and corporations. Also please prove that you're also smart enough to see that it's true!, because it's the wrong time to think otherwise or differently.
