Phnom Penh - Cambodia is content to wait for as long as it takes Thailand to settle its political upheavals and resume talks over disputed border territory, its government said Thursday. Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith said by telephone that it was the least Cambodia could do to give Thailand breathing room to get its internal affairs in order.
"The dispute over the border has been around 100 years," Kanharith said. "A few more weeks can't hurt."
Cambodia closed the border at the 11th-century Preah Vihear temple on its northern border in June. On July 7 UNESCO declared the temple a World Heritage Site over Thai objections, and a week later, Thai troops moved into nearby areas that it said are disputed but that Cambodia said is its territory.
Cambodia claimed Thai troops also moved into the Moan temple complex 150 kilometres to the west soon after - claims Thailand denied, saying it has had a troop presence near there for years.
Several rounds of talks have failed to resolve the deadlock with both sides vowing not to back down. Further talks are now on hold.
Thailand's Constitution Court on Tuesday found embattled Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej guilty of violating the national charter for hosting a television cooking show after he assumed office on February 6, forcing him out of his job.
Although the court's ruling immediately deprived Samak of the premiership, the constitution allows him to return to the post if members of parliament vote him back into power.

Well! When the Thaicong King sends his army to occupy Cambodian land and the Thaicong King certainly didn't give Cambodia a breathing room! AH Khieu Kanharith is repeating the same nonsense like before and all the CPP fool before him! This is a fucken insult to Cambodian people! And if this is not enough insult and the Thaicong authorities are using dogs to sniff Cambodian people before they can enter Thailand!
I suggest AH Khieu Kanharith needs to quit his job and let some other Khmer people who are more capable than him because he is condoning the Thaicong aggression and leaving no room for Cambodian people who are living along border next to Thailand to be mistreated like animal!

There is certainly an over due bother dispute between Cambodia and Thailand over hundreds years. But the recent evens are clearly not a bother demarcation dispute, it is a true aggression. If Cambodia does not react to such aggression timely, the result has already been shown that Thai army will continue to occupy Cambodian territory from one place to another. Kieu Kanhanrith comment on this even disqualifies him as a representative of Cambodia. In other country, in such event, prime minister would resign to open the way for his successor to freshly deal with Thailand aggressor.
Today, Mr. Khieu said that thousands years of border conflict has happened, he can wait for few more weeks. Will Mr. Khieu said " we lost thousands of square kilometers in the past, now a few more square kilometers we can donate"?
Don't be confused between nonviolent meant and cowardness of the leaders. Why do we need soldiers if we do not protect our territories by using them? Why not use monks to protect territories then?
Sometimes we should sacrify blood and flesh to protect territories because we will die anyway,if not now then later.
If it is correct what the Prime Minister recommended not use force to save lives of people at this time, it is also sure that these lives of people will die later sooner or later. However, if our territories cannot be saved at this time, then we lose forever.
