The King officially convened lawmakers for a new parliamentary session. But will Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) and Human rights Party (HRP) MPs attend?

On September 9, the 123 future MPs of the National Assembly elected in July, received their official convocation--sent by the King--to attend the September 24 session.

Cambodge Soir Hebdo contacted Yem Ponhearith, the HRP General Secretary: “We are in line with the King, but we are still expecting an answer to a letter sent jointly with the SRP. This letter stipulated that we wish not to take the oath at the same time as the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) MPs”.

As for Yim Sovann, Phnom Penh SRP MP: “as long as the complaints filed for election riggings have not been clearly solved, we will not attend the September 24 session. We are still expecting a reply from the King”.

Hun Sen has already warned the opposition party Mps, that failure to attend will result in distributing their seats to other attending party members.

Well, if you want to keep your seats, SRP and HRP, haul your asses to the swearing-in ceremony. Otherwise, your asses will be jobless, won't be padded with parliamentary immunity, sitting on concrete, and possbily begging to come back in, much like SR in previous time went as far as seeking for his pardon from PM Hun Sen and dismissed the 1997 grenade attack that he was so much against just a few weeks earlier. Article 118 of the NEC laws on election will guarantee a distribution of those seats left by political parties who decline to claim them. In addition, the constitution says KING is inviolable. So when he issues a decree or declaration, you better be abide by it. If SRP and HRP claim they are avid obsevants of the law and the Constitution, walk the walk and talk the talk, would ya?

Without Rannaridh and Funcinpec parties in line with SRP & HRP to help out, I would recommend that SRP & HRP joint the swearing ceremony.

The Rannaridh party and Funcinpec are the two dog parties. They are licking CPPs' feet. These are the stupid people and they should be left to die along the boarder.

I agree with 10:33. SR must be flexible. Think to the King's invitation first.

Don't be stupid to stay out! It's a dilemma for you. People still need you to fight for future democracy of Cambodia.

SRP & HRP parliamentarians still have a choice by making protest during the swearing-in ceremony on 24 Sept. They can raise banners during ceremoney and walk out after the King's speech or during the process of approving new cabinet.
Doing so, they still acheive their goal which could tell the people that opposition parties never acept the ellection result while being able to adhear to the constitution.

It sounds funny and not bad but I believe it could work anyway.

Country boy.

During the interview on RFI in France, both Mr. Rainsy and Mr. Kem denied that they have jointly sent letter to HRh King Sihamoni, however Mr. Yem Ponhearith, the HRP General Secretary's statement here is contrary to the above mentioned: “We are in line with the King, but we are still expecting an answer to a letter sent jointly with the SRP.

Why there's such a contradicted reply
